I don't know but after updating to 7.6.0 it didn't work anymore.

But in the few days I tested it I could see the player and playlist
were too simple for me. It looks a bit like the player and playlist
were last minute addons. Does not reflect the whole interface of the
Muso, which is beautiful.

But I am looking for a program with better playlist management.

Hello Bert003,
I use Muso on a Windows Home Server and I have no trouble with it at
all. Far from it in fact!
By installing it on the W.H.S. any computer on my home network can use
it's functionality and control the squeezebox players.
I don't get stuttering problems and of course you get the extra
information on screen, with variable searches.
You should stick with it, as it complements Squeezebox Server well.

Most apps have configuration options, in muso's case you have options to
point it to your SBS database which may be on a different machine - it

Re: [slim] Is there a Windows application to control a Squeezebox?

2011-07-26 Thread Skye

Hello Bert003, I’m inclined to agree with many of your observations -
interface appearance can be a quite personal reaction, depending on the
type of music you play and how you visualize how your music files are
stored.
You might like to use Foobar2000 to control your Squeezeboxen as
indicated here: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79575

As the majority of my files are of classical music, I find that I use
folder organization (composer, work, performers) more intuitive than
the usual hierarchy of the default tagging schemes. Using the ‘folder
structure’ library display in Foobar2000 is brilliant for that, and the
speed of the whole thing quite a relief.

I just wish stuffedspacedog would make it a plugin.

Squeezeserver will be alive. Although the server works great for me,
controlling the Squeezeboxes the way Logitech has implemented until now
it is a dead end street I think. Although the iPhone App is quite ok,
but not half as good as iPeng.

And for sure there will be many old style users who say that all works

Re: [slim] Is there a Windows application to control a Squeezebox?

2011-03-08 Thread Bert003

My server is a single core Atom N270 pc, dedicated for Squeezecenter.
But I don't like to work with it like a browser. After each click a new
page has to be loaded, and that is a waste of time.
It works good for doing configuration things but i.m.o. not for
browsing and selecting music.

Squeezeplay does emulate the SB interface but it is strange for me
while having a keyboard you cannot press S to go to the first title
beginning with an S. Besides of that I want to use the screen of my
laptop for the playlist and many other things. I played with a Linn DS
streamer with an iPad app and it worked just better. And I know, there
are always people who are used to work with the 4 arrow keys for
navigation and won't need anymore than that. And people who swear at
the SB classic with the 1 row of text display, but not for me.
I respect people who just want it the way Logitech developed it.

But for people like me who want fast and convenient selecting music
while having now playing visible, I ask if there are other programs.
But I guess not.

In the mean time I installed Whitebear, and tried Foobar with upnp
plugin. Browsing was slow I guess because the database wasn't cached
locally.

But if that is the way to go let me know which program would be better.
With a normal modern graphical intuitive clean interface.

I don't have an iPad otherwise it would be much easier.

Fwiw, none of the issues you cite wrt Moose appear to be Moose

Interesting. It came up as the 4th hit on my google search

these forums is likely to be more productive. Here's a good one:

I can't speak for everybody's success with Moose, but it works for me,
and considering that it interacts with SBS exclusively through the
command-line interface it's really hard to see how it could be the
source of the stuttering unless you have something configured
incorrectly.

The correct link still came up #9 on your google.nl search page, which
isn't bad considering muso probably doesn't have any pages in Dutch
And muso squeezebox (without quotes) brings it right to the top.

Re your database problems, what version of SBS are you using? If you're
using 7.6 beta that could be the problem, because 7.6 uses SQLite, and
these Windows apps are looking for MySQL, which is what 7.5.x uses.

Agree about the muso font :-)

Will look for Muso, google doesn't find useful links on Muso so far.

Moose syncs the database. If you've got a slow server that can keep it
too busy for a while.
Should eventually go away when it's running for a while.

[slim] Is there a Windows application to control a Squeezebox?

2011-03-07 Thread Bert003

Hi,

I am looking for a Windows application to control my SC and SB's.
I am a happy iPeng user and I have seen an iPad app with the playlist
and browse window together in 1 screen. And that worked very
comfortable, always have you playlist visible while browsing the
database and adding music with drag and drop.

I don't like the SC web interface very much because I find it veryslow
and it doesn't support drag and drop.

I already tried Moose but it gave playback problems on my system
(stuttering playback).

moose works great and never can be the reason for stuttering playback
since it has nothing to do with streaming audio data to the players.

Re: [slim] Is there a Windows application to control a Squeezebox?

2011-03-07 Thread Bert003

Well, I tried it and first I had problems to update Moose's database. I
got an errormessage. I don't remember how I got around that, but later
I got the same message about firewall's etc. Also with the firewall
turned off I got this error. It should just work since all my
squeezeboxes are working, also softsqueeze and squeezeplay.

And then there is this problem that the playback stops or stutters
while using Moose. A few years ago it worked, but not anymore.

Re: [slim] Is there a Windows application to control a Squeezebox?

2011-03-07 Thread bobkoure

...depending on what you're using for a server.
I run SBS on an atom based server and have the db and cache in memory
Home/My Music/New Music takes around 2.5 sec on FF3/Prism, 2 sec on
Chrome, click to icons on browser panel.
I don't regard this as fast, but acceptable.
You might, too - hence this comment.

Oh, this with a medium sized database ~70K tracks. The client machine
has something to do with the delay as well, and this is on an old
Athalon box.

If the webUI is slow, it's because your SBS machine is slow. Your first
paragraph says you already have a solution. Of course that contradicts
your second paragraph.

How well do you read?
