Hello Bert003, I use Muso on a Windows Home Server and I have no trouble with it at all. Far from it in fact! Re: [slim] Is there a Windows application to control a Squeezebox?
Hello Bert003, Im inclined to agree with many of your observations - interface appearance can be a quite personal reaction, depending on the type of music you play and how you visualize how your music files are stored. You might like to use Foobar2000 to control your Squeezeboxen as indicated here: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79575 As the majority of my files are of classical music, I find that I use folder organization (composer, work, performers) more intuitive than the usual hierarchy of the default tagging schemes. Using the folder structure library display in Foobar2000 is brilliant for that, and the speed of the whole thing quite a relief. Re: [slim] Is there a Windows application to control a Squeezebox?
My server is a single core Atom N270 pc, dedicated for Squeezecenter. But I don't like to work with it like a browser. After each click a new page has to be loaded, and that is a waste of time. It works good for doing configuration things but i.m.o. not for browsing and selecting music. Squeezeplay does emulate the SB interface but it is strange for me while having a keyboard you cannot press S to go to the first title beginning with an S. Besides of that I want to use the screen of my laptop for the playlist and many other things. I played with a Linn DS streamer with an iPad app and it worked just better. And I know, there are always people who are used to work with the 4 arrow keys for navigation and won't need anymore than that. And people who swear at the SB classic with the 1 row of text display, but not for me. I respect people who just want it the way Logitech developed it. But for people like me who want fast and convenient selecting music while having now playing visible, I ask if there are other programs. But I guess not. In the mean time I installed Whitebear, and tried Foobar with upnp plugin. Browsing was slow I guess because the database wasn't cached locally. But if that is the way to go let me know which program would be better. With a normal modern graphical intuitive clean interface. I don't have an iPad otherwise it would be much easier. -- Bert003 Bert003's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=31132 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86144 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I run SBS on an atom based server and have the db and cache in memory Home/My Music/New Music takes around 2.5 sec on FF3/Prism, 2 sec on Chrome, click to icons on browser panel. I don't regard this as fast, but acceptable. You might, too - hence this comment. Oh, this with a medium sized database ~70K tracks. The client machine has something to do with the delay as well, and this is on an old Athalon box. -- bobkoure bobkoure's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14646 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86144 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Is there a Windows application to control a Squeezebox?
Bert003;616213 Wrote: Hi, I am looking for a Windows application to control my SC and SB's. I am a happy iPeng user and I have seen an iPad app with the playlist and browse window together in 1 screen. And that worked very comfortable, always have you playlist visible while browsing the database and adding music with drag and drop. I don't like the SC web interface very much because I find it veryslow and it doesn't support drag and drop. I already tried Moose but it gave playback problems on my system (stuttering playback). If the webUI is slow, it's because your SBS machine is slow. Your first paragraph says you already have a solution. Of course that contradicts your second paragraph.
