It is possible to automate an off-site backup, but the options are fewer, so a manual backup to an external drive still has its place. Sometimes you gotta remember to rotate those backup external USB drives to different sites. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84080 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Mirrorfolder
Two copies (mirrored) one on the linux box one on my windows pc and a copy of music and more on Mozy ($4.99 a month for unlimited storage) backed up nightly. Mozy software will now back up locally and remotely at the same time. Leaned my lesson the first time... -- tedfroop Good judgement is the result of experience ... Re: [slim] Mirrorfolder
Interesting. I've just been using a script running robocopy that gets invoked when I stick a drive in (I've got an adapter you can just stick a bare SATA drive into, connects via e-SATA). First time ever autorun has come in handy. Moving disks manually means I'm often out of sync, but only by the few albums I've added any particular week. The discs that live at my brother's house are usually -way- out of sync, but I figure it's still better than having nothing off-site. I hear good things about synctoy, which I keep meaning to try. -- bobkoure bobkoure's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14646 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84080 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Mirrorfolder
Hi all, i am more than happy with my squeezebox setup but have been looking for a way to automatically backup my music folder across my network and found that mirrorfolder works great. Any time i add music to my music folder, it is mirrored across my network onto a network drive. More than happy now knowing when ever i add to my music i do not have to worry about remembering to update my copy on the network. steve -- stevecross stevecross's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29599 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84080 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
