The guy I bought mine from said he had another 8 and asked if I wanted
them... By the time I got back to him he said he'd promised them to
someone else. I'm guessing this is them.

He had several sealed and a few ex-demo Duets too. I think the same guy
bought them.

[slim] New Squeezebox Classic For Sale (UK)

2013-07-03 Thread ReValveiT

Logitech Squeezebox Classic for sale. I acquired this brand new and
sealed less than a month ago. I did an unboxing video (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xg4mByaDMdQ ) to check the contents and
make sure everything was in full working order then back into the box. I
had planned to keep it as a future collectible but something has come up
and I now need to sell.

I'm looking for £105 shipped within the UK, or £100 collected from the
Huddersfield area, West Yorkshire.

Payment by Paypal Gift, Bank Transfer or cash on collection.

you can check my ebay feedback here :
http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2userid=diffuseit_co_ukftab=AllFeedback

Would be nice for this to go to someone on the forum, but if there's no
interest I will be putting it on ebay.

Cheers guys.

I thought the same at first, but a quick glance through ebay completed
listings reveal it's quite common.

Probably one of the earlier ones before they altered the tooling.

I think it is an inherent feature of the display multiplexing itself,
all my SB3s have it.

Years go we used this type of emissive display in a product, it had the
same beginning and end of display slightly illuminated line. I don't
think there is anything to worry about.

[slim] new squeezebox classic owner - question about display

2010-01-04 Thread aquaanox

Just picked up a brand new SB v3 and have a question about the display.
Do the pixels in the corners of the display (vertical lines) stay lit up
? This is not noticeable from a few feet away, but up close they are
very apparent. Seems odd, i didnt notice this on the squeezebox boom
which has a similar display.

thanks in advance.

Re: [slim] New Squeezebox Classic screen problem

2010-01-03 Thread Chippy

Interesting - thanks for the update.

Yeah - I definitely don't see the issue on my SB3s or Boom, just the
new Classic. I've tried with different amounts of text on the screen
to see if that affects the issue (it doesn't). The problem does go away,
however, if I use the lowest brightness setting.

As you say, it's not massively noticeable from a distance (it's just
different to what I'm used to). I'm in the process of getting a
replacement, but to be honest if that one has the same problem I think
I'll just live with it.

cheers

Re: [slim] New Squeezebox Classic screen problem

2010-01-01 Thread maggior

So last night when I was going to bed and queing up some music on my
bedside SB3, I noticed some flickering pixels on the edge of the
display. I took a closer look and thought oh, that looks familiar!.
It looks exactly like what you show in your pictures here.

I also noticed my SB3 in my family room has the same behavior.

I found that I can only see it when the room is dark, otherwise it
isn't visible.

Since I see this on 2 different SB3s, I'd say that the problem isn't
hardware specific. It's either the nature of the beast, or a FW issue.
I'm currently on 7.3.3.

I don't see this on my Booms.

[slim] New Squeezebox Classic screen problem

2009-12-28 Thread Chippy

I received a (Logitech) SB Classic for Christmas to compliment a couple
of existing SlimDevices SB3s and a boom. I've been using it for the past
day and have just noticed that the extreme left and right edges of the
screen are faintly flickering (perhaps a column of 2 or 3 pixels at
either end).

My two SB3s are running the same firmware (130) on the same wireless
network connected to the same Squeeze Server, but don't have the
problem. Presumably this is a hardware problem with the Classic?

Grateful for any thoughts or advice.

cheers

The SB3 is supposed to be identical to the Classic - they just renamed
it for marketing purposes.

Since you have an SB3 to compare against, you know what it should look
like.

I'd say it's a hardware issue and you should look into arranging for a
replacement.

Using a SB3, Logitech Harmony 670, Onkyo HT-SR600 receiver.
SB3 set to fixed volume, using digital output, JVC codes disabled.
Harmony 670 was set up for receiver to control volume. When I check the
buttons under Digital Music Activity the Up/Down volume buttons are
programed for the receiver. As described in the thread above, the SB3's
display changes to the volume graph when I adjust the recivers volume
with the 670 remote.
The Harmmony setup shows Slim Devices Squeezebox 3 as the device, and
Digital Music as the activity. Any suggestions??? or advice on how to
correct???
Thanks

A Squeezebox 3 is the currently available Squeezebox. If you just

[slim] New Squeezebox owner, having trouble with Harmony 1000

2008-02-05 Thread kwkshift

Hello, everyone!

I just picked up a Squeezebox last week. I really like it and I think
it's a cool idea. I had it already programmed on my Harmony 1000 a few
weeks prior to getting it. It all worked well, except for the needing
to change what controlled the volume.

I have it running through a receiver and the remote was changing the
volume of the Squeezebox, rather than the receivers volume level. I
went into programming Sunday morning for the remote to make the changes
and things just weren't going right. I had to delete and try to re-add
in the device but ever since then, it keeps coming up as an AV
Receiver in the device types. Even if I manually go in an add the
buttons like play Pause etc, once updating the remote and the
extender are completed and I try to go into the activity, the only
thing that happens is the receiver turns on, goes to the proper input
and the Squeezebox turns on. There are no buttons on the screen of the
remote and none of the hard buttons function, (other than the volume
buttons for the receiver).

Any ideas? I've tried tech support, deleting and readding the device/
activity about a dozen times in all different combinations, etc and
still nothing.

I've tried adding it as a: Logitech Squeezebox(which is what I used a
few weeks ago with my initial programming)
Harmony Squeezebox
Slim Devices Squeezebox (but it comes up as a Squeezebox 3, (?))

Thanks!!

Greg

Re: [slim] New Squeezebox owner, having trouble with Harmony 1000

2008-02-05 Thread SteveEast

See if you can get the support folks to reset your config back to the
way it was before you tried to modify it on Sunday. Been a while since
I was on the Harmony Forum but you used to be able to get your config
reverted.

If they can do that then you can do something like:

1. Under the Activities tab, click Settings for the activity you
created to control your SB.

2. Select Review the settings for this activity, click Next.

3. Select No, I want to run the setup wizard again, click Next.

4. Click Next until you get the question about which device controls
the volume. Select appropriate device. Start clicking Next until done.

Steve.

[slim] New Squeezebox...oddities about it

2006-12-25 Thread 4mula1

I bought my parents a new wireless SB3 from Slim Devices and set it up
today. The first thing that struck me as odd was that it complained
that the ethernet was disabled. Strange. I pressed the left arrow and
setup networking and selected wireless setup. It asked me if I wanted
to connect to facorytest. WTF? I scrolled down and found my
parent's SSID and all was good. I forget where, maybe in selecting the
computer with SlimServer it asked me if I wanted to connect to
testmachine2.

The two SB3s I bought last spring didn't have any of that going on.
Was this a refurb? It's probably a good thing an experienced SB3 user
got it because I had no problems getting it setup, but a non-geek user
might have trouble figuring it out.

Yes, the original one or the backlit one:

The Transponder remote, with cool backlit buttons works
great on ancient old SqueezeBoxen, including my SB1/g

Much cooler than the old one.

[slim] New Squeezebox problem with long Cat5 run

2005-11-20 Thread mjbutterfield

I upgraded to the latest Squeezebox and am having a problem. When I hook
my new hardwired squeeze box into my network it does not find the
network. The same cable works if I use the old Squeezebox. Through
testing, I have found that the new squeezebox works if my cat5 run is
short (like 10 ft) but not on cat5 runs of more like 60ft. My old
squeezebox works fine on these longer runs. Does anyone know why this
is and more importantly, what I can do about it?

Chris,
The Ethernet port is fully functional on both wired and wireless
models. On the wireless squeezebox there is an additional menu in setup
to choose which interface you want.

Our main processor has ethernet built-in so there was no reason not to
include it in both models.

Hi,
I am thinking of purchasing a wireless squeezebox but have found that
they
are quite difficult to get hold of in the UK. When I look at the
slimdevices
website I see there is a 6-8 week wait for the wireless version. This
suggests to be that there a new version to soon be released. A
retailer
in
the UK also said he suspected this assumption was also true. Slim
devices
won't tell me either way for sure.
Does anyone know what the plan is for the new squeezebox? Will it look
massively different? Will it be much MUCH better? I want one now but
don't
know if I should wait for the new version to be released after all it
is a
lot of money that I'll be spending.
Would be great if someone could shed some light on this matterany
ideas??

The whole point of a Squeezebox is to have a small, light, low-power,
and **fanless** box that just plays music and plays it well. I think the
current design is just fine, though it took me a while to get used to
the complete lack of local controls on the box. I soon realized I'd
probably never use them anyway. Heck I hardly even use the IR remote, as
a web browser on a wireless laptop is usually much faster.

and **fanless** box that just plays music and plays it well. I think the
current design is just fine, though it took me a while to get used to
the complete lack of local controls on the box. I soon realized I'd
probably never use them anyway. Heck I hardly even use the IR remote, as
a web browser on a wireless laptop is usually much faster.

The key to a successful product like this is keeping it simple!

Not to beat a dead horse joke... :P but I was being sarcastic.

Of course, whatever if anything they introduce I'm sure will be
followed by 50 messages to this list from recent Squeezebox
purchasers about how screwed they feel to now be stuck with a
Squeezebox. :)
Good to know - I think I'll hold off buying a second one right now :)

I've had the same suspicions, since they are out of stock everywhere. I am
also in the market for a second wireless one, be good to know what's
coming.
If you don't want to wait I can recommend taking a wired model and just
connecting it to an 802.11g AP. That way you get higher bandwidth, WPA (was
important for me because my existing wireless network uses it) and somehow I
feel better without a transmitter inside my audio equipment anyway. I could
even move my old access point so I got better overall coverage. I got an
AirPort Express, since that doubles as an USB charger when I travel :) YMMV

Only 49 messages; I bought mine just before the price drop, but I'm
still happy.

Has anyone received a color case squeezebox to date? I was under the
assumption that they were only selling in colors now, so they were
shipping out the remaining wireless black boxes while waiting for the
new color cases to arrive. I could, of course, be totally and completely
incorrect; that's just the impression I got from the wait time when I
purchased mine.

That, or they finally realize that Roku is attracting people with (a)
the show-off style case, and (b) a strong retail presence at places
like Best Buy and Fry's. Pure pull-out-of-my-backside speculation, if I
were them, I'd be cranking out an alternative case, shiny cardboard
wraparound for their already terrific packaging, and getting units in
brick and mortar stores.

Don't hold off on my account.
See the :) ? I was joking.
The only application for a second squeezebox would be as a music playing
alarm clock in the bedroom. Which would require:

- multiple alarms, at least two per day of the week - can be done by a
plugin
- integrated 802.11g - the extra AP solution is fine for the living room
but that's where it ends.

Re: [slim] New Squeezebox? Wireless - Wired

2005-03-01 Thread Chris O'Shannassy
Hi;
I thought that the wireless squeezebox was wireless only? I know
it's got a network plug on the back, but I always assumed it was just a
dummy so that slimdevices only needed to make one case I'm happy
with my wireless connection (though it'd be nicer if it was 802.11G) for
now, but how do you disable the radio and turn it into a wired
squeezebox? Does it just switch automatically if plugged in?

Hi,

I am thinking of purchasing a wireless squeezebox but have found that
they
are quite difficult to get hold of in the UK. When I look at the
slimdevices
website I see there is a 6-8 week wait for the wireless version. This
suggests to be that there a new version to soon be released. A retailer
in
the UK also said he suspected this assumption was also true. Slim
devices
won't tell me either way for sure.

Does anyone know what the plan is for the new squeezebox? Will it look
massively different? Will it be much MUCH better? I want one now but
don't
know if I should wait for the new version to be released after all it
is a
lot of money that I'll be spending.

Would be great if someone could shed some light on this matterany
ideas??

As is their recent all but complete disappearance from this

right now.
