[slim] Re: XM Radio Online?
I see there is a bug request for Sirius and XM to be added, but I can't tell what the status of this is. Has anyone caught word of this? Is anyone out there already doing this? -- ssauer ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Being able to access Sirius web radio streams would be a really valuable addition, at least for me. I Currently have one receiver that is portable. So, if it leaves the house in the car, the house has no Sirius except on the PC. Being able to stream those stations to the SB2 sould save me from having to buy another radio (with recurring monthly subscription) or think again about putting a PC in the living room, which is what the SB2 is there to avoid in the first place. -- FLMike ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
RE: [slim] Re: XM Radio Online?
I did have a look at the open source player http://mak.zopelabs.com/xplay/ but I couldn't get perlthon - the python to perl translator - to work. I don't know any python but I assume if you can do it there it must be possible in perl! Anyone ever used perlthon successfully? James NOTICE: If received in error, please destroy and notify sender. JJZolx Wrote: Anyone know anything about XM Radio Online? What kind of bit rates it offers, whether it's mp3 or some proprietary format? Any chance that it could be streamed to a Squeezebox? I just found the enhancment request in bug #714: http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=714 Can anyone comment - Is this doable with the online versions of either XM or Sirius? Or are there DRM or proprietary compression scheme issues that make it unlikely? -- JJZolx ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Here's a link to a python-based Sirius online stream player with full source code: http://mak.zopelabs.com/xplay/ Provides everything necessary to build a crossplatform player plugin for Slimserver. All you need to do is port the source from Python to Perl and drop into the Slim Plugin SDK. Should be a snap for Perl whiz. *B -- Bradley ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
