Re: [slim] Skipping Over Music Folders
All excellent ideas, thank you. I was looking forward to learning how to write a plugin, but when it comes down to it, I do enough programming during the day. I just want to enjoy my music. :) Thank you all! Re: [slim] Skipping Over Music Folders
Have a look at Erland's plugins in the wiki - Multi Library or Custom Browse can probably do what you want but you may need to alter your directory structure or tags to get the best results. -- Siduhe Who am I on 'LAST.FM' (http://www.last.fm/user/siduhe)? -Siduhe Loved Tracks radio got the thumbs up. Re: [slim] Skipping Over Music Folders
You could use OS permissions on the directories -- if the Squeezebox Server process/user can't see the files, it won't scan/index/list them. -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ Free plugins: 'AllQuiet' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AllQuiet.html) 'Auto Dim/AutoDisplay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AutoDisplay.html) 'BlankSaver' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/BlankSaver.html) 'ContextMenu' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/ContextMenu.html) 'DenonSerial' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/DenonSerial.html) 'FuzzyTime' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/FuzzyTime.html) 'KidsPlay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KidsPlay.html) 'KitchenTimer' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KitchenTimer.html) 'PlayLog' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PlayLog.html) 'PowerCenter/BottleRocket' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PowerCenter.html) 'SaverSwitcher' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SaverSwitcher.html) 'SettingsManager' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SettingsManager.html) 'SleepFade' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SleepFade.html) 'StatusFirst' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/StatusFirst.html) 'SyncOptions' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SyncOptions.html) 'VolumeLock' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/VolumeLock.html) peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75747 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Skipping Over Music Folders
Some albums are so dear to me that I have both mp3 and flac versions of them (for iTunes and home stereo use respectively). I would like to limit the scan to the flac version only so the album doesn't show up twice in SC. What I'd really like to do is skip over certain folders during a music scan based on some criteria. Perhaps the criteria would be the existence of an empty dot file in the folder to skip (like .skip or something like that). I'm a programmer, and wouldn't mind learning the SC's API if this can be done via a plugin, but I don't want to wade through tons of documentation only to learn it can't be done. Does anyone know if this kind of thing is possible to do via a plugin? If it is, I'll start reading! :) Thanks! Re: [slim] Skipping Over Music Folders
I don't know if this is possible for you, but I deal with this issue by having two parallel libraries. I think many others here do the same. The primary library is FLAC and is what SlimServer indexes. I then use Robin Bowes' flac2mp3.pl script to maintain a separate MP3 version for portable players. -- eq72521 eq72521's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1512 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75747 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
