I am currently spending some of my vacation time going through my libraries and cleaning them up (tags, artwork, duplicate cleaning) in the effort to coanized mbine all the various folders & backups of my tunes over the years and arrive at 2 cleaned, organized folders (1 Live on LMS, 1 backup duplicate), so yeah...it's a lot of work that I don't want to see flushed down the drain with a server failure. Re: [slim] UPS support
My debian linux based LMS server is protected by an APC UPS. Uses package "apcupsd" and connects via a usb cable. pretty simple to setup. Power outages are the new normal in California. I don't really care about the PC or the software. It's the music library that I'm worried about. The hours and hours of work that has gone into creating it makes it imperative that I protect it. I also have 2 alternating backups of the music library. teeitup's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14402 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112768 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

As noted above, if you only use PiCorePlayer as a player, there's no need for a clean shutdown, as it runs in the main memory without accessing the SD card after booting. For Daphile, you'll need root access to install the apcupsd package ('emerge -av apcupsd' in Gentoo). So far not a problem with PiCorePlayer, but if I can mitigate future SD card scrapping, I would like to do so. I fail to see what LMS' role would be in this scenario. apcupsd would handle the shutdown, LMS is just one of the applications stopped before powering off. [slim] UPS support
Has anyone managed to shoehorn any UPS support into any of their current linux LMS setups PiCorePlayer or Daphile? Is it possible via their CLIs ability? The goal would be running an apcupsd server along side LMS to ensure stability in wonky power environments (rural areas with shitty grid like where I live) with the ability to trigger self power down after "X" minutes on battery backup. Such a thing might make a nice LMS plugin if it could be standardized, no?
