Re: [slim] VortexBox 0.2 auto CD ripper released
They don't support the 360 (and don't seem keen to change that) : http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1784977forum_id=440750abmode=1 I understand their position, but it's a shame as things like uShare Fuppes just seem really flaky and half-done. I had some success with Twonky but not enough to convince me to shell out $40 for it. -- radish radish's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=77 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=57583 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] VortexBox 0.2 auto CD ripper released
I've had similar experiences trying to get uPnP going on a linux server. The only one that worked properly was Twonky and I don't think there is enough functionality to warrant the price. In the end I gave in and set up a Windows VM to run TVersity (which is by far the best I've seen and its free). Not ideal, but it streams perfectly to my PS3. -- Browny http://www.last.fm/user/BrownySV/ Browny's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2295 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=57583 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] VortexBox 0.2 auto CD ripper released
I'm curious, which uPnP server are you using on VortexBox? I've been having a tough time finding any Linux ones which actually work with the 360 (many say they do, but all the one's I've tried have had problems). -- radish radish's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=77 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=57583 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] VortexBox 0.2 auto CD ripper released
Vortexbox 0.2 releases today. I asked everybody on this forum and on my forum what features they wanted in their NAS software. The response was that it needs to be able to send music to almost any kind of player and it needs to be easy to install and use. I think that VortexBox 0.2 is getting close to this goal. VortexBox now has support for the protocols used by most media players. DLNA, AppleTalk, DAAP (for iTunes streaming), NFS, and of course SC 7.3.1. As with the last version VortexBox still automatically rips CDs to FLAC and MP3 with zero user interaction. Just inset the CD and it rips. Please try this version out and give me your response. I am staring work on 0.3 and I need to know what direction to go. This version has a VMware install option so you can install it into a virtual machine if you don't have a PC to test it on.
