[slim] iTunes 7 problems
Hi I loaded iTunes 7 and everything seemed fine. Added some new tracks (wav's converted to mp3's in iTunes, I know I shouldn't do that for quality reasons but I did, and a CD rip) and then set SlimServer to rescan for new and changed music. Didn't find any of the new files. Then set it to completely rescan and the whole library on SlimServer has now emptied itself. The scan stops almost immediately, i.e. it looks like it thinks there's nothing to find. Did try to scan directly to the folder where the music is but this threw up some very weird problems, including not reading the tags right. All tags should be ID3 v2.4 as I made iTunes convert the tags. Not happy with this solution anyway as I use iTunes playlists. Never had this trouble before, it's totally new to iTunes 7 and I can only think that there is a problem reading the XML file (which is enormous at 8.81MG). I sent an email to Support but thought this might also be of interest to others. Looks like there are various issues going on. Any chance that SlimServer could start accessing the .itl database file directly?! [slim] iTunes 7 (QuickTime 7.1.3) Rips Don't Play
Running SlimServer Version: 6.3.1 - 8476 - Debian - EN - iso-8859-1. I have been playing M4A files encoded with iTunes 6 using FAAD2.5 with great success. Installed iTunes 7 recently and any files encoded with iTunes 7 (QT 7.1.3) do not play. The log indicates ERROR: Couldn't open song. I've checked permissions and they appear correct. The new files are picked up by the scan, but some of the tag info is missing. Artist, Album, and Track No are shown but nothing else (no genre, no duration, no artwork, etc). I'm guessing that the tags shown are not being retrieved from the file but from the guessing logic. It's interesting that all the old files I had previously encoded with iTunes 6 (QT 7.1.2) still play fine. This seems to imply that something has changed in the QT encoder. Not sure if this is a SlimServer issue or a FAAD issue. Anyone else having problems with rips encoded with QT 7.1.3? -- bishopdonmiguel bishopdonmiguel's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=278 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=27503 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

These are Apple AAC files ripped on a PC using iTunes 7? What platform are you running SlimServer on? ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] iTunes 7
I know that there is a FrontRow update, but I have not seen it yet. So I don't know if it does anything new/fancy with the Album or DVD art. I'm impressed with the new album art view in iTunes 7, but it does not seem to support album art via a shared library on the remote computer (in this case a Mac). So if your trying to serve up some album art eye candy on your remote computer using iTunes 7 it doesn't look like it will happen that way. There is some new function in iTunes that is supposed to snag album art for your entire music library. I'm not sure yet how well it is working. Any other comments yet on iTunes 7? I'm thinking I still don't want to dedicate a computer for remote listening to my music. So the SB is still looking good to me. -- Jazz1 Jazz1's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6623 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=27333 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
