Re: [slim] Squeezebox Duet - FLAC decoder bug
What about using a seperate tagging application rather than relying on the ripper? I use TagRename simply because I like the interface. I have no idea if it is Unicode or not though. I'd be surprised if one of the many *many* tagging apps couldn't do it for you. -- funkstar funkstar's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2335 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45998 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Squeezebox Duet - FLAC decoder bug
The thing is, why do we still have put up with complicated process for ripping a CD? I thought in this day and age, ripping a CD is a very matured process and should be very easy. Anyway, I found that if I turn the compression level down in Winamp from 12 (best) to something like 9, the bug went away. I've not tried compression level 10 or 11 to see if the bug is still there. But I think I'm happy with Winamp at compression level 9. Since it is an unicode app, my problem is now solved :) -- Kuro Kuro's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16701 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45998 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Squeezebox Duet - FLAC decoder bug
Officially FLAC only has 8 compression levels. So I'm not really surprised you were having problems, WinAmp is obviously doing something quite weird or using an unnoficial version of FLAC in its encoding. -- funkstar funkstar's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2335 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45998 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Squeezebox Duet - FLAC decoder bug
Ar... I tried EAC and sure enough, the same song in flac does not produce any pauses. The problem with EAC is that it is not a unicode application. I've CDs in different languages and it is not getting the text correctly unless I set windows to default to a particular char set for non-unicode app. Where as Winamp and iTune do not have this problem... Is dbPowerAmp any good then? Re: [slim] Squeezebox Duet - FLAC decoder bug
Every FLAC I can throw at mine works fine. I've got about 350 albums ripped via EAC though - never tried WinAmp to rip to FLAC. Perhaps you had a buggy encode? I would try ripping the same CD using EAC and try playing it back then. Re: [slim] Squeezebox Duet - FLAC decoder bug
It is probably a bad encoding by winamp. See this post (by Josh Coalson, of FLAC fame): http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=221343postcount=7. So EnochLight's suggestion to re-rip with EAC sounds like a good place to start. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45998 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
