I have had the same issue and Tom's response is exactly what I did. When I
send the email, I pass a variable that tells my gateway page where the person
is trying to go. It checks for the session variable and then sends it merrily
along AFTER they've logged in because it knows where to send the person as a
result of the variable I've passed in the URL.

good luck.

 Hi Moises,

In general, what you want to do is this: as a request is being processed
(perhaps within the OnRequest method of Application.cfc, or elsewhere if
you're using a framework), you need to check to see if the user is logged
in, probably by checking for existence of some session variable. So instead
of getting an error saying the variable is undefined, you do cfif NOT
 isDefined(session.whatever).

If the person is not logged in, then you need to grab the URL string that
s/he was trying to access and redirect the user to the login page, including
the original URL in some manner. I've sometimes created a POST action to the
login page, so that the string comes into the login page as a form variable,
 say form.intendedURL.

You send that information along with the login. If the login is successful,
you can then redirect the user to the intended page, because you know

Well, the mapping is local to the user who is currently logged into

the machine. It's somewhat easier to use a UNC path, but then

remember that the user that the CF process runs as also needs

permissions on that remote drive. This may mean using a domain

account.

Permissions are really a pain with this type of thing.

You could always create the CAR *and* also copy the XML files before you wipe
the system. One or the other is bound to work.

Please clarify.

FYI, I found 16 files of type neo-*.xml and I think this would be the

If you are reinstalling the same version of CF You can also
copy all the neo-*.xml files out and just drop them back in after you are done.

The CAR file method isn't 100% solid last time I tried it. It
actually missed a few settings.

There is something called Archives and Deployment page in Coldfusion
Administrator settings which allows you to save the settings in a file. I
believe its at the very bottom in the administrator screen, after mail
settings, debugging settings, java settings.

I would recommend make a print out/manual copy of your settings just in case
before you try this method, just to be on safe side. We usually miss out on
some specifics during our first try ;-).

There is a wizard which guides you through all the steps, i.e. saving
datasources, mappings, scheduled tasks etc. Then when you save it, you run the
same wizard on target computer, and point to the file and your settings will be
copied over.

Try it out and Let us know how it goes. :-)

HTH,

Ajas Mohammed.
