If you use SQl Server 2000 or 2005, there is a tool that I highly recommend:
SQL Prompt by Red Gate Software
This little gem makes creating queries and joined queries so quick, that
testing your schema or instrospecting your metadata a thing of the past.

It is not free. It is $195, but I am seriously considering writing this on
off as a business critical expense.
