Vince, That is excellent adoption of JVM integration. I can hope Adobe picks up on this trend as well. Interesting to see yet another CFML engine (YACFMLE?) out there. Goes to show how widely used and supported CFML is, and just adds more fire under the feet of Adobe to keep adding great features to differentiate itself from the clones (Smith's word). -Cameron On 12/18/06, [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Anyone seen this yet? http://www.smithproject.org/ Smith is a freeware, cross-platform ColdFusion engine, written entirely in Java. I am just hoping the support of Java 5 will help alleviate previous bottlenecks. It is sad to see graphs of various performance charts and Adobe ranks pretty poorly. I understand some of these charts are deceptive and situational, but none-the-less you want Adobe as the original owner to look just as good. RE: [ACFUG Discuss] Smith Project
I spoke at a conference in Rome in early November along with Ben Forta; he said publicly that while Scorpio (CFMX 8) will support Java 5, it might not ship with Java 5 as the default JVM. Something about there being lots of third-party software in CFMX, some of which might not support Java 5, and a requirement to be backwards-compatible to JDK 1.3 due to contractual obligations to IBM. BlueDragon 7.0 requires Java 5 as the minimum JVM, so we could take advantage of some of the new features. Since Java 6 was just released, we actually talked about moving to Java 6 before BD 7.0 is released, but decided against it. However, we'll probably include Java 6 in a BD 7.0.1 updater in mid-2007. There are some nice performance improvement in Java 6 in addition to the ones in Java 5.
