Re: WeMakeFedora is under attack

2022-02-23 Thread Dr. Michael Stehmann

Hello,

the freedom no. 0 is to use software for any purpose.

If you want to use software on a special computer model, you might need
non-free firmware. That is bad enough.

It isn't a restriction by licence but an actual one.

So distributors as users have the choice:

Either to use (or distribute) non-free firmware and use and run Free
Software on that computer model.

Or to run Free Software only on a few computers, which don't need
non-free firmware. That is an important lack of choice and reduces the
freedom of the user.

So the question is: Which policy increases the common freedom?

IMO both policies are honourable, because both are focused on the
freedom of the software user.

Hello,

it is so simple:

When the minutes are published, everybody can

- assess, whether the "draft" is a fake or not and
- check the minutes at the registration court.

Than everybody, who likes to, may blame the FSFE because of the
decisions on that GA. Than (s)he is able to argue with facts, not with
rumors.

Hello,

my problem with this list is, that there are no positive and productive
postings on it.

So it is a nice documentation of rumours and quarrels in a part of the
Free Software movement, nice to enjoy with some popcorn, but not fruitfully.

So it is almost all wasted energy.

Ok, that was also negative.

To become productive:

What are the topics ot be discussed here to improve the Free Software
movement in a productive way?

How does the list become fruitful?

The Fellowship is not an activity of FSFE any longer. They changed their
constition.

The simple fact is: FSFE don't want to have "Fellowship representatives"
any more. The "Fellowship of FSFE" is dead! It's history.

So, if Free Software activists want to promote Free Software together,
they have either to be content with being a "supporter" or to become a
member of the FSFE or to establish an own organization.

Perhaps this organization can collaborate with FSFE in far-off future.
