Re: [pfSense-discussion] Synchronization scenario
No, its not smart enough to do that. If you loose a master node, its in your best interest to get it back up and running ASAP as it is the master of the configuration. Furthermore, if you tell a slave to sync back to the master you will end up in a never ending sync loop. The scenario I'm thinking is the master goes down, and one changes some rules on the slave node. When the master comes up, slave sends the new configuration.
RE: [pfSense-discussion] Synchronization scenario
If you expect that the master is down for some time you can switch master/backup role simply by deleting the sync to IP at the old master and add one to the old slave with the same options. however, you should edit the advskews of the old slave too then. Re: [pfSense-discussion] Small suggestion

The question is rather where you hover over the interface name... -Original Message- From: Matthew Lenz [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, March 06, 2006 9:44 PM To: discussion@pfsense.com Subject: Re: [pfSense-discussion] Small suggestion could probably do it with a tool tip. think thats provided by some standard html tag if I remember right. something with alt text or something. RE: [pfSense-discussion] Small suggestion
I didn't have a clue, I just thought it was a space saving way. -Original Message- From: Bill Marquette [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 06 March 2006 21:49 To: discussion@pfsense.com Subject: Re: [pfSense-discussion] Small suggestion Exactly. I've got an idea how I would implement this - but this being discussion@ and it not being my idea in the first place, I'm letting it be discussed ;-P If nothing comes out of this, it's still a good idea, at some point I'll probably implement it my way unless someone comes up with a good suggestion and a mock-up so we can see what it's supposed to look like. --Bill On 3/6/06, Holger Bauer [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: The question is rather where you hover over the interface name... [pfSense-discussion] xorp
http://www.xorp.org This is something that just screams integrate! :) Maybe for pfSense 2.0 or so? -- Jure Pečar http://jure.pecar.org/
Re: [pfSense-discussion] xorp
You would need to start from ground 0 with this. Its meant to be a router and does not have PF, etc. Nor does it have CARP, nor does it have insert another feature here. XORP is a great project but to integrate it would mean to start over and loose 99% of the features that make pfSense great IMHO.
