[DNG] Modify scheduling for AMD Bulldozer/Piledriver module efficiency
I want to change the thread scheduler to be aware of AMD Bulldozer/Piledriver modules. Each module has 2 cores, but currently for instance two tasks are placed on two modules rather than the two cores of a single module which results in higher power consumption and Turbo 2 (half CPU turbo) not being enabled. I will also have the issue of for instance VLC using 90% CPU usage with the scheduler moving it around 4 cores which receive moderate usage instead of 1 or 2 cores of a single module so that turbo 2 will be enabled, this results in dropped frames as I have a 35W EE series CPU that needs Turbo 2 to play a 1080p .mkv as vlc doesn't have multi-threading apparently. [DNG] [Off topic] Is HOPE worth attending?
I heard it was full of poseurs, and $170 is pretty steep - I have a friend I can stay with in NYC but that is a lot of money for me. Has anyone here went? is it worth it? what is the quality of the speakers/events/workshops/etc? Do the earlier batches of tickets cost less money? It seems like a total scam that they sell out in seconds due to scripters, kind of like the whole ticketmaster/stub hub deal. Are they going to pull some bullshit like asking to see my passport? (obviously I don't want to use my real name) "hold it right there kid im gonna need to see some identification" Do you get free or discounted tickets if you volunteer or do a presentation/workshop? what level of skill and specialities is required to volunteer? I appreciate any replies. ___ Dng mailing list Dng@lists.dyne.org https://mailinglists.dyne.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/dng
Re: [DNG] Requesting translations for dev1fanboy wiki
As an afterthought.. It's roughly these pages are important to have translations for: https://git.devuan.org/dev1fanboy/Upgrade-Install-Devuan/blob/master/general-information.md https://git.devuan.org/dev1fanboy/Upgrade-Install-Devuan/blob/master/migrate-to-jessie.md https://git.devuan.org/dev1fanboy/Upgrade-Install-Devuan/blob/master/network-configuration.md https://git.devuan.org/dev1fanboy/Upgrade-Install-Devuan/blob/master/upgrade-to-ascii.md Note that ascii migration instructions need checking right now due to the beta release, and may change again later when ascii has a stable release. This would be enough to start off a section for each language with their own index pages. [DNG] Requesting translations for dev1fanboy wiki
A few things have been happening at my wiki lately. Since the Devuan Jessie release I have retested the correct ways to migrate to Devuan, etc and how to iron out those bumps. Devuan has improved and made changes since I first started so there have been many corrections and improvements. In short this means that translations have fallen behind the latest versions of those documents, and either need updating or redoing. I’m happy to accept translations for languages we don’t have yet as well. If you would like to help out, please reply to this topic. As far as what needs translating, anything translated from the git repository will be appreciated. The translations we already have are here: https://git.devuan.org/dev1fanboy/Upgrade-Install-Devuan/wikis/home#translations The git repository is available here: https://git.devuan.org/dev1fanboy/Upgrade-Install-Devuan/tree/master For those not familiar with git it’s fine to click on the .md file you want to translate, view it in RAW format, download and email it back to me after translation. If you choose a page to work with please reply to this post, this should save any duplication of work. If you want someone to verify your work or provide improvements, you can reply to this topic as well.
