Well, then it's up to you to write your own start/stop script which will start/stop your application. Your package doesn't need to invoke scripts. It is up to your script to invoke the server provided in the package. Didier ___ Dng mailing list Dng@lists.dyne.org https://mailinglists.dyne.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/dng

It's been 10 days since and I still haven't seen updated installers on pkgmaster. Where should I look, if not at https://pkgmaster.devuan.org/devuan/dists/*/main/installer-$arch/ with a * wildcard of beowulf or ceres? Hi, thank you for your reply. On Sat, Apr 13, 2019 at 9:39 AM info at smallinnovations dot nl wrote: > For a better understanding of init scripts take a look at > https://www.linuxnix.com/write-sysvinit-scripts/ I think its headline is a bit wrong, because the article describes a system using scripts with "# chkconfig", which I think was a RedHat frontend (compatible with SysV init), and "### BEGIN INIT INFO", which I think is Linux Standard Base defined init, which IIRC initially had tools like "insserv" as user frontends. So I think it is not describing "SysV init scripts" but chkconfig or LSB init scripts, so headline maybe should better be "Writing chkconfig init scripts" or "Writing LSB init scripts". I'm not sure if calling insserv directly (instead using update-rc.d) is fully working in all cases on Devuan systems (maybe insserv does not handle overrides or such), so maybe it is not fully applicable for Devuan. I'm afraid nowadays someone cannot assume that chkconfig, service, insserv/rmserv, other tooling modifying SysV init scripts in /etc/rcX.d/ (and update-rc.d, which seems to be Debian specific) being compatible to each other, not even on Linux, and each requires package manager support for postinstall scripts, which I don't have here. Unfortunately a proprietary package is used, which unfortunately does not support executing scripts, so I have to pack the result. I saw that the update-rc.d worked (I used update-rc.d ccucvm_startup_script defaults with strace in my first mail), but did not know what it does additionally to set the S?? links, which by default seem to are not used in favor of the hidden files. (I though Devuan would using classic "SysV init") Steffen ___ Dng mailing list Dng@lists.dyne.org https://mailinglists.dyne.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/dng
