Thanks for checking Mike.

Retried and now it worked here as well.

Sorry for the noise. Hard to tell what was wrong.

looks ok from here:

$ egrep "^deb " /etc/apt/sources.list && grep -l "Package: less"
/var/lib/apt/lists/*Packages
deb http://deb.devuan.org/merged beowulf main non-free contrib
deb http://deb.devuan.org/merged beowulf-security main non-free contrib

AFAICS your "less" comes from beowulf-backports.

Hi,

I will upgrade to Beowulf. As usual, I will upgrade dpkg, apt,
aptitude and the kernel first and then reboot with the new versions.
Then, I will do an "apt-get dist-upgrade".

If there are more critical packages which need to be upgraded first,
please post. The above worked in Debian when there were dist-upgrade
issues.

Thanks.

Been running openvpn for literally decades. Server can be put on a

For both, I removed the optical drive and replaced it with a 500 GiB
fixed disk using the factory mounts; its an option on these systems.

Both dual boot to ASCII or Windows 10 Professional 64.

Both have 8GiB of RAM

Everything on both works just fine except for the fingerprint readers,
which is not an ASCII problem but rather poor Linux support.

Sound, touch pad, correct video resolution, the network, Bluetooth, etc.
works fine. Performance using the same application, for example Libre
Office, is noticeably better than with W10.

I did a quick search and found www.metabox.com.au which sells Clevo
laptops: you configure them yourself and you can select
"No Operating system". See, for example,
https://www.metabox.com.au/store/b268/Metabox-Alpha-X-NH58RA-Laptop

Send from a Clevo laptop running Linux...
