Thanks to everyone who has responded to this thread (some off-list). I 
just wanted to drop a short note updating you that the dock arrived 
earlier today but I haven't yet had a chance to open the box. I am not 
an impulsive person.  I tend to measure 6 times and cut once!  So it's 
going to take me a while to sort through all the suggestions and decide 
how to proceed. I'll post when I have figured that out and the stars 
align.  Stay tuned . . .

Thanks, but already visited your country twice. Once to read a paper 
and once to tour with the IFCO. These visits were wonderful 
experiences. The people were extraordinarily fiendly, discussions were 
quite frank, the Cuban achievements impressive despite limitations.

I'd love to known how devuan or even debian fares there.

I already managed to install it, the error was giving me the library 
libwbclient0


I still only use deb http://deb.devuan.org/merged beowulf main contrib 
non-free


I have never been in such a hurry to update since my connection is very slow

To test use chimaera on vitual PC

I can use it on pc that do not have internet access

what I only use:

but it is giving me problems updating samba, maybe they are waiting to 
upload the packages from

to install these packages:


samba winbind libnss-winbind libpam-winbind libpam-krb5 ntp krb5-user

You will also need to setup smb.conf correctly.

That could be your problem, I have lines in sources.list like this:

deb http://deb.devuan.org/merged beowulf main contrib non-free

Once you get Samba to install, you should upgrade it, 4.9.5 is EOL from 
Samba's point of view, see here:

I know they are for Debian, but they work with Devuan.

Thanks. It's a good idea to read man xset. I hate it to dependant on
graphical interfaces. xset -q showed me that the power manager which I
had installed didn't change the value.

I had the same problem. This command disables the power saving feature 
of the monitor/X-server completely:

$ xset -dpms

You also can set parameters for the time values. See man xset.

This command will show you the current settings in seconds on your 
system (600s = 10m):

$ xset q
[…]
DPMS (Energy Star):
  Standby: 600Suspend: 600Off: 600
  DPMS is Enabled
  Monitor is On
