Devuan Beowulf 3.1.0 point release

Dear Init Freedom Lovers

Once again the Veteran Unix Admins salute you on this day commemorating
six years since the first Devuan pre-alpha Valentine's Day release in 2015!

Devuan Beowulf 3.1.0 point release installer ISOs, desktop-live, and
minimal-live isos are now available. Note that ARM and virtual images are
not updated in this release.
What’s new in this point release:

Installation:

The installer now offers a choice of three init systems. runit has been
added, along with sysvinit and openrc.

If you would like to select an alternate bootloader (lilo) or exclude
non-free firmware, you must select one of the Expert install options.

The recommended default mirror is now deb.devuan.org. If you would like to
use a country code mirror, please check
https://pkgmaster.devuan.org/mirror_list.txt to see if there is one
suitable for your needs.

buttons and accessibility features)

What about ARM and virtual images?

ARM and Virtual Machine images are provided by the greater Devuan
community rather than as part of official releases. Users are being
encouraged to build and contribute ARM images for their particular
hardware. This will increase the variety of images available and allow the
release schedule of the installer ISOs to move forward more quickly.

Images can be built using using arm-sdk and vm-sdk:

Arm-related discussion happens at #devuan-arm (Freenode) and

Re: [DNG] NFS+Kerberos on Beowulf

2021-02-14 Thread Jackman via Dng
Thank you both for your help!

Check this out...

➜  ~ cat /etc/default/nfs-kernel-server
RPCNFSDCOUNT=8
RPCNFSDPRIORITY=0
RPCMOUNTDOPTS="--manage-gids"
NEED_SVCGSSD="yes"
RPCSVCGSSDOPTS=""

The entry 'NEED_SVCGSSD="yes"' is 'NEED_SVCGSSD=""' by default.

Problem solved. Thank you!

Hopefully these mailing list archives will help someone in the future.

I'm currently using samba4 active directory based kerberos with NFS4
(and windows shares) and prior to that i also used MIT kerberos
successfully without any issue.

On the NFS4 server:

cat /etc/exports

/srv/nfs4
*(rw,async,root_squash,crossmnt,fsid=0,sec=krb5i,no_subtree_check)
/srv/nfs4/Benutzer*(rw,async,sec=krb5i,no_subtree_check)
.

cat /etc/default/nfs-common
NEED_STATD=no
STATDOPTS=
NEED_IDMAPD=yes
NEED_GSSD=yes

Could you double check, that the kerberos keytabs for the services are
properly configured. You might also check that dns is working properly.

You need to specify "-o sec=krb5i" when mounting (at least I do that
here). I also use the fqdn of the server.

afaiu, possibly, without a 'no_root_squash' option, the server side
will perform its actions as user 'nobody' who might not have write
access to the source and thus will gain a:

> mount.nfs4: access denied by server while mounting storage0:/srv/nfs-test
