[DNG] Spamassassin uninstallable in ceres

2018-10-10 Thread Arne Wichmann
Looking at CVE-2018-11780 i decided to move spamassassin to ceres, which
gave:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 spamassassin : Depends: init-system-helpers (>= 1.51) but 1.48+devuan2.0 is
tobe installed
Recommends: spamc
Recommends: sa-compile but it is not going to be installed

This looks like a bug.

Hi,

I don't remind which kernel.
but is was in the press for sure:
USA authorities were given a backdoor
in the kernel.
Could have been 2.6
For security, fighting criminals whats however.

There was absolutely no resistance in those days.
Not any.

Foreign countries began to develop their own kernels.

In those days I was into floppy distro's on old kernels so did not
bother very much.
But I remember it well.

Yes I am a veteran in Linux stuff, into floppy distros like trinux
(cloud computing avant la lettre)

Do you know whether MediaTek Helio X25 deca-core processor is a victim
too for Meltdown and Spectrum?
I can not find anything about it on Google.

My next debian handheld will be Gemini PDA that has that CPU.

I prefer not to worry.

You understand German pretty well,
It is time to correct the Wiki on all issues concerning Devuan.
I can only guess what kind of fanboy wrote the Wiki on this
issue.
I better remain silent on this.

Hi,

i tried to
run a script from rc.local and
start lircd (for infrared remote control).
(the script has nothing to do with lirc)

sometimes i had to start stretch in rescue mode.
never got both working the same time with /etc/rc.local.
so i ended up with the commands in another place (when starting x)

greetings

[DNG] Another problem with systemd and I will switch to devuan

2017-09-16 Thread arne
Another problem with systemd and I will switch to devuan.

I had a fierce struggle with rc.local and systemd.
Took me 24 hours,
lots of coffee and pizza, (to abandon rc.local for most part in the end)

I am feeling a pain in my heart if I have to leave debian.

It was my companion for 10 years.

Now the question: I run debian stretch.
is it hard to switch to devuan or is a new install preferred?

Sick and tired of systemd,
greeting,
SP
