Maybe my comment was misinterpreted, but by "dedication" I simply
meant a short sentence in the Release Notes saying "This version of
Devuan is dedicated to the memory of Ian Murdock", not changing the
name of the Release to "Ian"...

I like your attitude towards explicitly dedicating a release, someday
in the future. Nevertheless I'd really appreciate to read a statement
from some VUA for whom he was more than just a name among many.

Although renamed, Debian and Devuan carry his name. The very same name,
Debian, is a statement of love, and not the Miniluv kind of love.
He's been a prominent figure in opensource, having been also
project leader for OpenIndiana.
Whatever has happened to him, this is a sad loss for everyone.
