I like the documentation on that page telling you what to expect and how to achieve it. > > I have tried to do the same with debian and void, both were much more > rigid than Arch and fought me the whole way. Can't speak for Debian, but yeah, I've done a Void chroot install, and it's difficult. Of course I've never found Arch's chroot install easy either (or for that matter Gentoo and Funtoo), but Void's much easier with void-installer. Re: [DNG] systemd-free.org
Arch is a virulently pro-systemd, anti-choice distro, unlike its descendant, Manjaro. If Arch is really home-growing a systemd-free version of Arch, this would be, in the words of Joe Biden, a BIG F'ing DEAL! Arch is often trotted out to combat accusations that systemd is a redhatism, and that systemd is just something for dumb-newbie users. To the extent that systemd is repudiated by any segment of the Arch community, this is a huge propaganda loss for systemd. [DNG] systemd-free.org
re all, here a new initiative by brothers and sisters of ArchLinux, one of the first distributions to be bullied into systemd http://systemd-free.org ArchLinux is a relatively young and very sharp distribution, they have arguably the best documentation wiki on-line on GNU/Linux matters and many smart people among their developers, some well known to us at dyne.org. This initiative is worth following I believe, especially for those of us who are intentioned in stepping over to OpenRC, since that seems to be the direction they are taking. ciao -- Denis Roio aka Jaromil http://Dyne.org think tank CTO and co-founder free/open source developer 加密 6113 D89C A825 C5CE DD02 C872 73B3 5DA5 4ACB 7D10 signature.asc Description: Digital signature ___ Dng mailing list Dng@lists.dyne.org https://mailinglists.dyne.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/dng

Although I'm no fan of rolling release distros, it's good to know there is some effort to preserve other inits there.
