Yeah. I avoid using the SMTP commands to subscribe, unsubscribe, etc
specifically because of this...

So, I decided to be helpful and send you the direct link, and went
looking for the list-subscribe page, which is buried in the mail
headers.

I don't think the execution is relevant when it was obviously a bad
idea in the first place.
This is like putting rabid weasels in your pants, and later expressing
regret at having chosen those particular rabid weasels and that pair
