Re: Arabic letters for folder/file names
Hello Mohammad, Which Distribution are you using? My keymap does not more work, since I have upgraded to Debian/Sarge. They are really big changes in the console and under XFree86/X.org. Currently I am rotating because I need farsi and arabic for my work. I was trying to get the console working with a modified version of fribidi so I can use it with mutt but as I told you, since Sarge it does not more work. I am sure, we are not allone with this problem. And then, a Console Font can have up to 512 characters and LatArCyrHeb-16+.psf does not use all. What I like to get is a console font which support farsi, arabic, hebrew, 8859-1/6/9/15 and I think, cyrillic is not really nessesary. Unfortunatly, curenly I am homeless and need a new Appartement, which block me to continue my research and developments. Greetings and happy new year... You have to add it set its value to utf8. The following line shows you how to do that: /dev/hda1 /media/hda1 vfat umask=000,shortname=mixed,quiet,iocharset=utf8 0 0 This is true when I want to mount a windof file system to my Linux, but anyway thanks for the tip. There is also a useful document: http://www.arabeyes.org/download/documents/howto/arabic-howto-en/ I went to the documentation but it seams old OR I am a special case. coz I have tried what is there, but did not help. For example, it sazs that konsole work out of the box with arabic fonts, but that wasn't the case. From your email account, I deduced that you are in Germany, I am in Heidelberg.
