DOCBOOK-APPS: Best XML-docbook to PDF renderer?

2003-03-10 Thread Thomas Singer
Hi,

Currently I'm using FOP to create PDF output from my (XML)docbook files.
Does someone knows better renderers, that can be used to generate
high-quality output (like LaTeX does)? Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Tom

DOCBOOK-APPS: Problems with hyphenation of menuchoice (2)

2003-02-11 Thread Thomas Singer
This is my second try:

I have following structure in my document

   menuchoiceguimenuProject/guimenuguimenuitemImport
.../guimenuitem/menuchoice

Unfortunately it occurs on the end-of-line, so Im-port must be splitted on
two lines. In the pdf output (docbook 1.60.1 and fop 0.20.4), the word
order changes to:

   bla-bla Im-
Project|port ...

It must be a fop-problem, because the intermediate fo-file contains the
following code

fo:inline font-weight=boldProject/fo:inline|fo:inline
font-weight=boldImport .../fo:inline

Cheers,
Tom

Given this FO output, you are right. It is a FOP
problem. There's nothing the DocBook XSL stylesheets
can do about it. You had best report it to the
Apache FOP project.

DOCBOOK-APPS: Avoid image scaling for HTML output

2003-01-31 Thread Thomas Singer
Hi,

I use the depth parameter of the graphic element to resize my screenshots
for pdf-output. When I generate HTML output, the image are scaled, too, but
this looks ugly, because it's done by the browser. I use my own
transformation stylesheet, that includes html/docbook.xsl. What's the
easiest way (editing my stylesheet) to generate img-tags without the
height attribute?

Cheers,
Tom

Re: DOCBOOK-APPS: XMLSPY and DocBook

Hi Cory,

Try XXE, it's a very powerful and free DocBook editor on JAVA base.

Tom

Hi,
I am considering using DocBook to create a Manual of Procedures. Ideally
I'd like to do so in an environment that is easy for those who are
unfamiliar with programming and mark up to understand. Currently I am
trying to use XMLSPY. If someone has attempted this before I would very
much appreciate input into the feasibility of this plan or if someone can
suggest an information resource that would be great too.

Thanks,

Re: DOCBOOK-APPS: DocBook XSL 1.60.0 for the brave at heart

2003-01-22 Thread Thomas Singer
Hi,

I've tried to convert to html, but IE does not show images any longer.

I embed images like in the following line:

  graphic depth=6cm
fileref=02_create-users/01_user-password-manager_repository_none.png /

The html-output looks like this:

 div
table border=0 summary=manufactured viewport for HTML img
cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0
   tr style=height: 212.59842519685037
  tdimg
src=02_create-users/01_user-password-manager_repository_none.png
width=/td
   /tr
/table
 /div

I'm not sure, what the tr style=height: 212.59842519685037-line is
correct as well as the img ... width=. When removing the width=, IE
shows the image.

Cheers,
Tom
