As a general comment, I don't agree with Dan's use of DBMS and RDBMS, as I think these terms should refer to software (such as Base), not to data. My preferred terms are database and relational database From a CS point of view at least, you are right. DBMS (DataBase Management System) / RDBMS (Relational DataBase Management System) are terms that refer to the software that manages databases, while database is meant to refer to the data that is being managed. RDBMS would be your HSQLDB, MySQL, Sqlite or whatever. I don't think Base should be described as a RDBMS though, it is just a frontend to several of them. Can BASE create a cluster and delete it ? I was not aware of this ... this would be AWESOME !! [libreoffice-documentation] Introduction
Hi all, My name is Richard Barnes. I would like to help out and have access to the Documentation Team web sites. I have previously helped with the OOo docs and you will find my name on several Calc chapters as an author. I have been thinking about the lack of documentation for Base and would like to help with it. I have been thinking of this for months and now I have the time to give to the project. I have an Master's degree in Management Information Systems from California State University, so I know the subject. It's my writing that's always in need of a good review ;-) Regards, Rick Barnes -- If I had my life to live over again, I'd be a plumber. - Albert Einstein -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to documentation+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/documentation/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Introduction
Welcome back, Rick! It's great to see you again. I've created an account for you at the other website the LibreOffice Docs people use. (I see Sigrid set you up at ODFAuthors.) You'll receive a private email with login info. --Jean On Mon, Mar 19, 2012 at 01:52, Mail Dump mail.d...@comcast.net wrote: Hi all, My name is Richard Barnes.
