Re: [libreoffice-documentation] REMIND: Documentation team call is today at 19:00 Berlin Time.

2017-11-01 Thread Paul Figueiredo
I do not have access to my laptop at the moment and am trying to connect
via the Jitsi Meet app for Android. It's connecting fine by clicking the
link in the email but is showing me as alone in the room.

I'm afraid I'll be unable to attend. I am in various meetings today with
my day-job bosses.

If there are any tasks to be assigned, please let me know.

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] REMIND: Documentation team call is today at 19:00 Berlin Time.

2017-10-04 Thread Paul Figueiredo
I'll be unable to attend as well. I just returned from conferences two
days ago and have my hands full getting caught up with tasks in my day
job.

I completed the merge of Chapter 5. Replaced most of the screenshots,
leaving only the ones that are not obviously different. I did a
preliminary grammar screen, but it could use another go-over with a fine
toothed comb.

I briefly looked into the advanced topics Olivier forwarded to me (Data
Streams). I have not been able to write anything about them yet simply
because I haven't been able to make the feature work for me. I'll keep
researching and experimenting.

I uploaded a fresh copy of Chapter 4 with changes tracked from the

merged back in just fine, so you should be good to go, Dave. Sorry for the

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Meeting Minutes September 6th 2017

2017-09-13 Thread Paul Figueiredo
I didn't have any changes to Chapter 2 contributed. But before Dave
downloads my changes to Chapter 4, give me a day or so to re-upload my
edits to it in a properly tracked file.

I messed up by not tracking my changes from the very beginning. I started
my tracking AFTER changing the information on the first page. So Merging
documents throws back an error message. I'm going to re-upload a fixed
version tonight or tomorrow and merging documents will work again.

Thanks. Sorry for the error.

[libreoffice-documentation] Wednesday August 23 Documentation team meeting

2017-08-23 Thread Paul Figueiredo
Hi guys;

I'm going to try my best to make it to the meeting today, but I have some
head-office VIP's visiting my day job today at some point so I may have a
conflict of schedule.

I'm still working on my last weeks tasks. The smaller jobs are done, but
it's a bit longer and harder than I thought to condense Pivot Tables to an
easy to understand introductory few paragraphs. Still working on it and
I'll have it all done in the next few days for sure. So maybe this week,
limit extra tasks for me so that I can focus on that one big job for the
Calc chapter.

Thanks. Hopefully I'll see you at 11 AM (my time). If not, see you all
next week.

Paul

[libreoffice-documentation] Draft GS6.0 Chapter 1 Draft

2017-08-04 Thread Paul Figueiredo
I've uploaded GS6001 - Introducing_LibreOffice_PF_20170804.odt to the
Authors website:
https://www.odfauthors.org/libreoffice/english/getting-started/draft-lo-6.0/chapter-1-getting-started-6-0-pf/view
and updated the wiki accordingly.

In this draft I:
- Added a line or two about the keyboard shortcuts in context menus and
how to disable/enable them. Included a screenshot that may or may not be
necessary, if not, it will be deleted.
- Added a section to the end of the chapter titled "Troubleshooting
LibreOffice in Safe Mode.

Screenshots at the moment are placeholders. After all changes have been
merged into a single document, I think, for consistency, a single person
doing a review/edit of the merged document should contribute the
screenshots so that visual consistency is maintained.

[libreoffice-documentation] Uploading changes

2017-08-03 Thread Paul Figueiredo
When uploading my edits to the ODF Authors site, do I upload a new version
with my changes separately so that there are multiple Chapter 1 drafts that
are later collated and merged? Or do we have a single Chapter 1 file that
is being replaced as new people edit and upload?

Thanks in advance

For sure. I had a glance at the 6.0 and 5.4 change logs to see what was
coming down the pipe. Are there style guides for the 6.0 documentation?
Or is it keeping the 5.X style guide?

[libreoffice-documentation] Introduction

2017-07-06 Thread Paul Figueiredo
Hi there;

I am interested in joining the documentation team and would need access to
the ODFAuthors website.

I do not have much familiarity with *technical *writing, having been a
fiction writer in my younger years. However, since I am not a programmer
or developer but am finding a need to contribute *something* it seems that
documentation is the perfect fit.

To prepare and test myself, I downloaded chapter 1 of the Calc 4.1 guide
and tried my hand at updating it's style guide to 5.X, testing its
instructions against my current build (5.3.4), and editing as necessary.
It was fun and I enjoyed it and would like to continue helping out in some
capacity.

Thank you for your time.

Paul Figueiredo
