The doc seems to indicate that a home dir is needed.

If you enable mail_debug=yes and perhaps auth_debug=yes, you should
see what the imap service is using as the home directory and why.

I made a mistake when I moved dovecot to a new server and only

All I have in 10-mail.conf is

-
mail_location = maildir:/home/vmail/mailboxes/%d/%n

All emails for the few accounts I have are in these mailboxes and I
can get/see them via my mail client

I do, however, get the following error

imap(b...@aaa.bbb): Error: User b...@aaa.bbb doesn't have home dir
set, disabling duplicate database

---

After looking at https://wiki2.dovecot.org/VirtualUsers/Home I
tried the following

mail_home = /home/vmail/mailboxes/%d/%n

mail_location = maildir:~/mail
--

Problem with this is that I now can't see any of my emails in the
client.

Appreciate any help on how to fix this.

Well, you changed the effective maildir directory to
/home/vmail/mailboxes/%d/%n/mail. So, if you want to use it like
that, you'll have to move the maildir for each user to that new path
template.

Regards,

Stephan.

Re: dsync connection issue

2019-01-01 Thread subscription1

Thanks for you suggestion, but I couldn't quite get it to work.

I ended up rsyncing the mail folders (there were only a few email
accounts) a temporary folder on the new server and then used dsync to
restore the mailfolders.

Thanks again for your help

Since both of your servers are running dovecot it would be probably better to
use native doveadm protocol (over ssh pipe if required) to do the migration
instead of using imapc.

something like:

doveadm backup -u user1@newserver -R ssh oldserver sudo /usr/bin/doveadm
dsync-server -u user1@oldserver

allowing sudo and ssh login with keys.
