 What can be the problem?

What I'm seeeing is this:

* people are (according to deliver imap) over quota
* when I check the maildirsite file I see stuff like

744288000S
78182 4815
-200635743 -15
-100099910 -14

Which - to me - means: Their limit is

744288000S
they HAD 78182S
but removed 29 Mails with about 3S and should now be WELL
below quota

And others again have been told what a Unix would be and how it is
working. If this people are extraterrestrial or an ancient
mainframe-team of IBM (the difference is not that big), and they then
try to build a Unix, you will get a AIX 2 and 3 - a hybride monster
with green blood which will not kill you maybe, but when you look at
the innwards you wish you where dead afterwards.

Are the quotas wrong often? Dovecot uses the Maildir++ quota
 specifications:
 http://www.inter7.com/courierimap/README.maildirquota.html

So the file is recalculated if it's

 a) = file is 5120 bytes

 b) file is older than 15 mins and it contains more than two lines
(header + the first value line)

Actually I forgot one important part about b): It's only done if user is
over quota.

 3-6 examples?

 How about 15.000?
My users get a lot of mail. All I see is NO update to the maildrisize
 file AFTER 24h!!!

So the problem isn't really that the quota isn't recalculated / second
line isn't updated, but that the existing values in maildirsize aren't
summed up correctly?

How long have you been using Maildir++ quota? Has it been broken the
entire time?

What does GETQUOTAROOT INBOX say with such a maildirsize file as you
gave above? I just tried and it works correctly:

* QUOTA  (STORAGE 476711 726843)
