[DQSD-Users] Updated Search: rxlib.xml

2004-08-09 Thread Shawn K. Hall
Hello all,

I fixed the rxlib search ( http://www.regexlib.com/ ). They changed
stuff and it broke. Gosh, I really hate how asp.net 'viewstate'
affects remoting a search. :(

This time it made the search some 9 times larger, just to include the
viewstate data. Aaarrgggh!

Regards,

Not yet. If you have a website, you can post it there, and get a mention on
the contrib page [1].
The neat thing about that is that the httpinst command can be used to
install them on-the-fly.

Maybe we should look into getting a section of dqsd.net for hosting
miscellanous searches...?
The Virgin feature looks cool.

[DQSD-Users] Max searches in LocalSearches?

Lately, it's not recognising any searches I add to my localsearches folder,
It recognises existing ones in this folder. I have to add them to the
searches folder for them to be loaded. Could I have hit some kind of limit?

[DQSD-Users] Virgin mobile picture messages to non picture phone!

2004-08-09 Thread Tom Corcoran
Is there a repository for specialist searches that may be useful to some but
should not be included in the overall distribution?

The attached is such a search, it's for Virgin UK mobile phone network users
who can, check picture messages sent to non picture message phone. In your
LocalAliases.txt add something like :
v|virginm /num your_number %s

you can then do : v/ code 8_digit_code_texted_by_Virgin

Cheers,

Tom.

Mountain Timezone /mountain
Pacific Timezone /pacific
Examples:

RE: [DQSD-Users] DQSD and Windows XP SP2

2004-08-09 Thread Ken Blake
I did this and it fixed the problem. However, it breaks two programs
here:

1. I run a little background program called QuickReply
(http://www.erstenware.com/?qr2). It runs as an icon in the System
Tray as a process. After making the fix you recmmended, I can see the
process running in Task Manager, but there's no icon in the System
tray, and I can't access it.

2. I also run Desktop Sidebar
(http://www.desktopsidebar.com/index.html). One of its features is
that it lets me put a Media Player control bar in it. I can then start
Windows Media Player (for example, playing a radio station) and close
it; the station continues to play, and I can control it from the
Desktop Sidebar. After making your fix, when I close Media Player, the
sound stream stops and the sidebar control doesn't work.

I have no idea why this registry change had these two effects, but it
seems to be the case. I observed that behavior in two spearate boots
after applying the change. I then removed the change and both problems
went away.

Number 2 is a minor inconvenience that I could live with, but I need
the QuickReply program. Any thoughts on either or both of these?

Yup, that sounds like a good idea. We should really look into the
security implications of doing this, though, and make sure we provide
correct and full information of the (possible) risks.

As far as I can see, it shouldn't pose a problem, but I haven't really
thought it through.

Unfortunately we've discovered that solution fails for a couple things,
check past SP2 posts for more info (2 threads already). Generally expect
errors if you try it.

Maybe we should get a registry file up on the website with the little SP2
tweak and the disclaimer now that the release is imminent. Or on
sourceforge.
