[DQSD-Users] Two Things

2005-04-20 Thread ryan_carpenter

I have two files to share on unrelated projects. The first is a requested update for the bugmenot.com search. This puts the first result in the DQSD itself, rather than opening a new window (unless the /old switch is used). I'd like to figure out how to adapt it to cycle through all known login/password pairs, but I haven't figured that out yet. If anyone cares to shuffle through the code, feel free.

My bigger project is a GUI for prefference setting, something that I imagine keeps some less techie folks from using DQSD. I've added a section to the Help/About screen, but it doesn't actually affect the preferences file yet. Please let me know what you think of the interface, especially ways in which it could be simplified ansd improved.

If you're interested in pursuing this project, it seems there are 3 big things to do.
1) Fix the css/html to make it look good
2) Write _javascript_ to pull the preference variables into the form
3) Edit localprefs.js based on individual changes to the form

You can check out the changes by putting the attatched copy of helpbox.js into the main DQSD folder.

Does the search bar still function? You have one of the XP themes, don't you? They don't work in vertical mode. Go to --Configure--Load Color Scheme--Classic

I just noticed that if I take DSQD off the task bar so it floats in its own window it still has the gray area below the search field.

If that is the issue, all you have to do is open search.htm and edit line 964. Either make the numbers bigger than 256 or comment out some lines. Remember, this will be switched back when you upgrade.

It's fine by me, though I can't vouch that everything there works perfectly. Thanks for the tip on the bookmarks search- I've been using that for quite a while now and have tried to extend the idea to things like RSS. Unfortunately, my version is pretty slow in loading. I encourage anyone interested to try and make improvements.

[DQSD-Users] searches array

2005-01-04 Thread ryan_carpenter

Yeah, that was the first thing I tried. I put the line alert(searches.length); into one of my search files and did a search. It popped up saying "Undefined". alert(searches) just gives "[Object object]". The aliases array does the same thing.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

You can enumerate them using the searches[] and aliases[] arrays. Look in loader.js for code that works with them, that should give you a start anyway. Regards, Shawn K. Paul- type in a few letters, then F8.

Everyone- is there an easy way to access an array of all the search names from within a search script? I've been looking through how the menu is built, but it's kind of over my head...

Thanks, Ryan

[DQSD-Users] Plot function

2004-10-20 Thread ryan_carpenter

I figured the math capabilities of DQSD needed a graphical interface. I adapted Walter Zorn's Online function grapher [walterzorn.com] into a plotting tool that can be used from DQSD on or offline. There are still a couple bugs, but it should work 99% of the time for any function(s) of x.

This folder has a few searches I've been working on. None are done yet, but they work as proofs of concept. In order for the login function to work, a change to the search.html file was necesary.Below is the section of code I altered. The biggest problem is that the password input hides behind the button. I hope you all can make some use of my ideas.
 document.write('div id=primInp style="visibility:visible"' + (multiline ? 'textarea ' : 'input ') + 'name=q ' + 'type=text ' + 'style="top:-100; display: none;" ' + 'class=txtfld ' + ' ' + ' ' + ' ' + ' ' + ' ' + ' ' + ' ' + (calStart ? 'ondblclick' : 'oncontextmenu') + '="return showcal();" ' + ' ' + ' ' + 'value="" ' + 'cols=20 ' + 'rows=1 ' + 'maxlength=256 ' + 'tabindex=0 ' + 'autocomplete=' + (autocomplete ? 'on' : 'off') + (multiline ? "/textarea" : "") + '/divdiv id=secInp style="visibility:hidden;left:30"' + 'input name=p type=password ' + 'id="" ' + 'class=txtfld ' + ' ' + ' ' + ' ' + ' ' + ' ' + ' ' + ' ' + (calStart ? 'ondblclick' : 'oncontextmenu') + '="return showcal();" ' + ' ' + ' ' + 'value="" ' + '/div');

-- Original message -- Hi Ryan,I'd like to write a search that will allow you to login to password protected sites (email, banking). Problem is, I can't seem to figure out how to make a password-type input and pull that information into the form. I posted a first attempt below, would anyone care to give me ideas? Look at the yy.xml search that I committed several months ago. It does what you're looking for, and also provides 'aliasing' to make it possible to handle several logins using stored parameters as variables in the format: yy myvar ...where "myvar" is a variable assigned to an array of parameters that would otherwise be passed to the yy search. Anyway... it's a good sample of what you're looking for. Also, remove this section if you want to be able to run the search without passing a parameter: if( nullArgs("l",email) ) return false; Regards, Shawn K.
