Mikhail,

Good question...

I wonder if your TZ value wasn't incorrect, anyway... See [1]; CET == GMT+1,
so CET-1 is GMT, which is not your timezone. That would account for the
errors you're seeing.

You could always set it back to GMT+1 or CET for good measure, in case
somebody's relying on it.

I'd like it if DQSD was immune to this, but I don't think it's easily fixed,
since it's really IE or Windows Explorer who are suffering from the problem,
as far as I can see.

Yes, that seems to be matching my case.
It is the daylight saving time here in Europe. I am in GMT+01, TZ is defined
as "CET-1" (I don't event know what it means :-).
"Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes" is enabled.

Can this be related to your issue? Which timezone are you in?

Does it help if you enable "Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving

2004-06-22 Thread Nikitin Mikhail (ICM MP PD SW2 AAL)
Hello,

This is a marvelous tool, thank you!

I have an issue to ask about, though. When idle, my deskbar shall display
the date and time (clockshortform = " dd.MM. HH:mm ";). What is
strange, the time shown is one hour off the real system time; to be precise,
it now shows 07:09, although the clock in the tray (if I switch it on) shows
08:09. What can be wrong in my setup?

OS: Win2K.

RE: [DQSD-Users] Time Sync Add-on

2003-03-02 Thread John W. Bairen, Jr.
Bill,

This round was primarily done to learn how to do it. I have found C++
source code that can be included into a project to do time sync. It seems
to be much more powerful and gives me access to more functionality. Only
problem is I have even less of a clue where to start now. But it is my next
project, to improve the timesync addon to do a few things:

1. not need to use an ActiveX control
2. be able to post results or success/failure into the DQSD window
3. have a timeout setting to cancel the sync if no result within that time

anyone interested in helping... the source code is here:
http://www.codeproject.com/internet/csntp.asp

If I have any success, I'll update the addon. But don't hold your breath.

Can someone please post the installer to the files area to be downloadable?
I have tried this and do not have the permission to do so. I have tried
numerous things this weekend to make the tool better but have come to an
end. So it is probably a final release version (unless someone discovers
something of course).

[DQSD-Users] Time Sync

2003-02-26 Thread John W. Bairen, Jr.
In pursuit of learning something new, I have created an addon for synching
system time

attached to this e-mail is one zip file that contains 3 files.

1. tsync.js - put this in addons\timesync folder
2. tsync.xml - put this in addons\timesync folder
3. CTimeSynch.zip - unzip this. put the ocx file in your system32 directory
and run regsvr32 on it. (let me know if you need help with this).

in your localprefs.js file you MUST name your default time server, similar
to this

ServerName="time.nist.gov";

Then reload dqsd and enter either of the following in DQSD

to sync with default server enter:
tsync

to sync to a specified server enter:
tsync clock-1.cs.cmu.edu

A couple of issues...
1. Like Brent's Bookmarks addon, this prompts you to permit the activex
control the first time on every DQSD reload. Any work around yet?
2. Anyone feel free to clean up the code and/or verify that it does what I
think it does.
3. Anyone able to help handle if no default server is set in localprefs.js
and none is specified when invoked?
4. Anyone able to help put together an install and post it to SF as a
downloadable file?

If any of these files

Thanks,
JB

interesting. i didn't know about that either... so i looked into it.
apparently in win2k, it's called "w32tm" and found in the winnt/system32

give you the available options.

RE: [DQSD-Users] Time Sync

2003-02-15 Thread John W. Bairen, Jr.
I had forgotten all about that. In XP, it is a tab on the 'date and time
properties' page (double click on the time in your tray). It seems to
trigger once a week and isn't configurable as to the frequency of syncs.
Now to figure out how to call it command line and silent or something...

I have not seen it in 2K.

Can't believe I've never seen it.

In win Xp go to the clock on the taskbar (DQSD users will have to turn it
back on!) and look at the third tab on the property sheet.

In Win 2k you have to set it up with 'net time' from the command line.

It is documented. (I know, because I filed a bug about its documentation
during the w2k beta...)

Cheers,

Will

Both 2K and XP have an NTP client built in. It's better and has more U/I
on XP than on 2K.

Both 2K and XP have an NTP client built in. It's better and has more U/I
on XP than on 2K.

Here's another free time sync program (ntptime) I've been using for several
years, on multiple OS's. Runs as a service on NT/2K/XP and as a hidden
program on the others.

Subject: [DQSD-Users] Time Sync

I have been looking into adding a Time Sync utility to DQSD, but really have
no idea how. The JSTimeSync utility mentioned by D.Bloom yesterday seems to
work pretty well. I downloaded it and put it in a folder under Program
Files and then put the following line in my localaliases.txt:

sync|run "C:\Program Files\JSTimeSync\JSTimeSync.exe" -s
clock-1.cs.cmu.edu"|Time Sync

Using the docs for JSTimeSync you can choose a different time server as the
tool comes with Servers.txt that lists several time servers.

This just seems the easiest way to go about it. I may still investigate
adding the functionality to DQSD, but I still have no clue where to start.

Again the utility can be gotten here:

FWIW,
JB
