Re: [DQSD-Users] HELP!!

Hi Lynn,

It's been years since I used DQSD myself, but it uses Internet
Explorer to do most of its magic. What version of Internet Explorer do
you have? I'm worried that DQSD might not work with newer IE releases.

Remove these lines:
  if( nullArgs("lib", q) )
return;

Reload DQSD (!) and try it again.

That site uses POST to get it's information, so a DQSD alias won't
work. Have you tried the DQSD Search Wizard yet? It should create a
vanilla search for you which 'fills out' the form, then you just have
to open the XML file in notepad and fill in the form values for your
account.

RE: [DQSD-Users] help!

2003-09-21 Thread Shawn K. Hall
Hi Noorez,

> "There was a problem initializing the enhanced keyboard

> (Error 'DQSDTools.KeyboardHook - Can't install hook')
> What do I do?

If DQSD is even partially working, click on the menu button and click
"Configure", "System Preferences". Now skip the next paragraph and go
"down there".

If you CAN'T get DQSD to work at all, open up the DQSD Installation
folder (usually C:\Program Files\Quick Search Deskbar) and find the
file "preferences.js" (the ".js" part of the file name may not be
visible on your system, that's OK). Open that file up in notepad
(IIRC, you can do this by right-clicking the file and
'send-to\notepad').

"down there"
You should be here once you've got the preferences file open.

Look for the line:
hotkeyCharacter="S";

It's a little more than half-way down and on/near line 273, if that
helps.

Change that line to:
hotkeyCharacter="Q";

Or another UPPERCASE letter if "Q" also doesn't work.

Save the file and restart DQSD (usually you can do this with a "!" in
the search box, but I don't know if it'll work in your current
predicament). If not, the easiest way is probably to restart your
computer. :/

Error: Permission denied
Code: 0

2. Internet Explorer Script Error

Each asks do I wish to continue running scripts on this page? I've
uninstalled, redownloaded more times that I can remember. The program
had been doing just fine. I've no idea what I changed to cause this to

Any help would be greatly appreciated in that, because of my work, I

I'm no expert at DQSD quite yet (only used it about a week), but
in the docs it makes note that several settings are persisted
through installations. It's possible that one of these is being
persisted and is causing your installation of the files that are
'bad' to be ignored/bypassed - thus causing the predicament
you're in.

Try renaming the directory "C:\Program Files\Quick Search
Deskbar" to "*...backup" or something similar and reinstall. If
you have any settings that you've changed after that point,
migrate them over one by one, (!) reload, and test them, after
each change to see in which change the failure occurs.
