[Drakelist] TR7A

2009-01-21 Thread Tadeyev
Hello all,
First of ll, I would like to be clear that I nothing to do with the
TR7A auction. I live in Hollland and have never dealt with Radiomart.
This question of 'real' or 'fake' TR7A's has been somewhat skewed in
my opinion...
I have a TR7, which was officially made into a TR7A by an official
Drake distributor here in Holland.
They were given all the front plate exchanges,I saw at least 50 of
them in a bundle, and all material by Drake to upgrade people's TR7's
to TR7A's.
(I saw all of the materials when I was there. They were among the
first Drake dealers in all of Europe, and close friends of the
founder as well)

What Drake in USA did regarding TR7A's is perhaps another question.

For me anyway, my TR7A is just that, even if it didn't start life off
like that, and I have the official papers to prove it.
I suspect that there are many more units out there like mine in the market.
The information that Drake never upgraded TR7's to TR7A's, as stated
on the Drake Internet museum, just doesn't hold water for all
countries,
and there is obviously more info out there that has not been taken
into account about these upgrades.
Just my 2 cents worth!
Theo

I find it interesting that he knows this, but doesn't know if there is
a 6 KHz filter or an AUX-7 installed.

What's a TR-7A board, anyway? I thought they were all the same. I've
seen newer rev boards installed in older TR-7s that had been in for
factory service.

A friend of mine, Tom, KC9MSA sent a message through ebay to Radio
Mart telling him that the serial number was way low for a TR7A and
here was Radio Mart's reply:

Dear Tom
I have received so many conflicting reports regarding this, I am just
going to let it ride as it is, I have checked the main boards and
they are all TR-7A's so I have no idea how the # is so low?

Hope all is well with you

[Drakelist] Fake TR7 on ebay

2009-01-21 Thread David & Chris Drake
Hey gang,
Ole' Radio Mart is at it again. A TR7A with a 5xxx serial number !! It does
have an "A" front panel, so technically, he can claim it was sold as an A
model, but the sn gives it away.
Its item number 250358419230 If anyone is interested. I've asked for the hi
rez pictures, so maybe he mis typed the sn ?? If not, I'm filing away the pics
as a example of a fake TR7A.
