Re: [Drakelist] equivalent transistor for drake 2-C
A local store sold me a BD243C. Physically it is different (it looks like a LM7812), but they told me it is equivalent to the 40310. What do you think? 73, Franco IZ2OOS 2009/7/11 Joe Pyles epy...@indy.rr.com: I've replaced the audio output device in a couple of 2C's with the NTE175 and had NO oscillation problems. 73, Joe Pyles KC9LAD At 11:35 PM 7/10/2009, you wrote: I do NOT recommend the NTE175. [Drakelist] DRAKE R7 ACCESSORY SOCKET
Hi Jim, Both Drake's 1544 adapter and Lee Craner's homebrew adapter use the R7 In/Out socket to power the RV75. This socket is limited to 0.25 Amp. However, my R7 is powered by 13.8 VDC through this socket already and it would make for a much neater project if the RV75 could be wired into the Cinch plug for the accessory socket. 73. I want to operate a RV75 from this source. Michael, The R7 was designed to accept a RV75 on this connector using an optional adapter cable sold be Drake. There are plans on how to homebrew one on WB4HFN's web site, among others. http://www.wb4hfn.com/DRAKE/DrakeArticles/Drake1544/Drake1544Adptr.htm If you don't plan on transceiving with a TR7, you can just leave the TR7 connector out. 73 -Jim -- Michael Miller North Coast Power http://www.utilityfree.com Email: mmil...@utilityfree.com Mail: Box 151,Cazadero,Ca.95421 Phone: 800 799 1122 Fax: 877 393 3955 ___ Drakelist mailing list Drakelist@zerobeat.net http://mailman.zerobeat.net/mailman/listinfo/drakelist

In that case, look at the wire size. It looks like pin 10 connects directly to the 13.8 bus, ou might want to cerify this as I just took a quick look over the service manual. In that case, you are limited by the size of the wire and the overhead of your 13.8 supply. You *may* need some extra decoupling on this line as well, but that remains to be seen. 73 -Jim -- Ham Radio NU0C Lincoln, Nebraska, U.S.S.A. [Drakelist] T-4X Troubles Solved
The behavior of my T-4X with plate current dip normally and load properly on 80 40 but not on higher bands ended up being the 6JB6 tubes. My T-4XB worked fine on all bands, so first I installed the final tubes from the T-4X into the T-4XB. When I did that, the T-4XB behaved as the T-4X had, no dip on 20, 15, 10. These final tubes were RCA tubes, and suspiciously clean externally. Then installed the dusty Sylvania tubes, with 35 written on the outside of each from the T-4XB into the T-4X, whereupon the T-4X plate current dipped and could load the transmitter on all bands. The neutralization seems on-the-money as well. So, now the T-4X works perfectly, the T-4XB is sick. I await receipt of two NOS 6JB6 tubes to see how well they will work in the T-4XB, am not sure what brand they will be. Wish knew a source for known good 6JB6 tubes, would buy a few for spares. 73, Curt ___ Drakelist mailing list Drakelist@zerobeat.net http://mailman.zerobeat.net/mailman/listinfo/drakelist
Re: [Drakelist] equivalent transistor for drake 2-C
Good input, Joe. Now we know that the NTE device is safe. That probably means the Drake circuit used some explicit frequency compensation and didn't rely on the slow power transistor for stability. Curt et al, I've had good success with Antique Electronic Supply on the web at http://www.tubesandmore.com/ They have lots of good NOS tubes and you might be able to request a particular brand such as Sylvania. 73, Eric KA8FAN From: Curt rhule...@consolidated.net To: drakelist@zerobeat.net Sent: Saturday, July 11, 2009 4:35:53 PM Subject: [Drakelist] T-4X Troubles Solved The behavior of my T-4X with plate current dip normally and load properly on 80 40 but not on higher bands ended up being the 6JB6 tubes.
