When sending money to an email account, and I do it often, on my end at least, it shows completed. The money is then transferred to his or her account and sits there until he transfers it to his bank account. If you send an e'check, then the transaction is not completed until the check clears. That usually takes 4-5 days. He is allerted to the payment and is shown in his account as pending. I suggest you email him directly to resolve. He did say he was leaving for Dayton on the 16th. Yes, if you did pay or otherwise communicate to him your check was in the mail, and, he sold your books at Dayton..well, I think we all know how that would be perceived. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt at this point. I've found that 99% of all hams are pretty honest people. Good luck, and I hope you get your books soon. I simply made an observation that while I paid via paypal, his recods say that I was mailing a check...which I nevr said and never did. I'm usually very careful when I say This is what happened. I would check it.
