[Bug 34156] New: r600g performance regression between 780c183b and 862ebb41
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34156 Summary: r600g performance regression between 780c183b and 862ebb41 Product: Mesa Version: git Platform: x86-64 (AMD64) OS/Version: Linux (All) Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Drivers/Gallium/r600 AssignedTo: dri-devel at lists.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: dawitbro at sbcglobal.net Performance suddenly improved by 50-150% across the board in late January, so I've been very happy with Mesa r600g lately! I've been trying to do quick builds for testing every couple of days when I get home from work, watching out for any changes in performance. My last build was at commit 780c183b (Feb. 6), and that was working great. Tonight's build was at commit 862ebb41, and performance was degraded severely. For example, the previous build allowed torcs to hit fps in mid 30's, occasionally hitting up to 60 fps; tonight I'm getting mid 20's, occasionally hitting 30 fps. Other apps, and even the desktop, are noticeably more sluggish. (Reinstalling the previous packages restores excellent performance!) I will try to bisect this, but some home improvement projects will prevent me from attempting it until tomorrow night at the soonest, and more likely Saturday morning. Sorry for the delay. Hi, after Debian/squeeze was released a newer (version of) openarena made its was from experimental to unstable. Unfortunately, the OA-E-D does not run as benchmark, I end up in the main menue of OA. I have tried to dig into the problem by compiling latest mesa-from-git and ddx-from-git for my radeon RV250. Furthermore, I have unpacked the TGZ from [1] to ~/.openarena/. Currently, I have no idea what's wrong, so I attached the output of... $ LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose $(which openarena) +exec anholt 2>/tmp/openarena_anholt.log ... Xorg.log and dmesg. [PATCH] drm/radeon: fix race between GPU reset and TTM delayed delete thread.
From: Dave AirlieMy evergreen has been in a remote PC for week and reset has never once saved me from certain doom, I finally relocated to the box with a serial cable and noticed an oops when the GPU resets, and the TTM delayed delete thread tries to remove something from the GTT. This stops the delayed delete thread from executing across the GPU reset handler, and woot I can GPU reset now. [PATCH] drm, drm/i915/lvds: Honour video= parameter to override LVDS fixed mode

Yeah not like this. you want to make the command line the *last* option we use, the final fallback. LVDS panels have EDID and VBT hardcoded modes for a good reason, they don't work with other modes that well. You always want to use a scaler on the LVDS panel to do modes not the native mode. So if I have a VBT or EDID and you set video= I should get a scaled mode, not garbage. So what I suspect you really want is to leave video= alone or enhance it somehow, or maybe add i915.lvds_native_mode= parameter. [drm] Initialized i915 1.6.0 20080730 for :00:02.0 on minor 0 Is this likely to be related the the irq issues your patch addressed or is it a separate thing that I should report separately? It's the i915 IRQ alright, but I'm not sure what the cause is. An unexpected interrupt arrived, although you don't use any paths in the driver that use interrupts, nor should one be generated when all we are doing is initialising the device structs. Should just be a minor nuisance fortunately. OK, I haven't raised the bug report yet, but I now know how to create it - reboot via kexec which is what I must have done when I built and installed the kernel to test your patches. I guess not having booted via the bios is leaving the card in an odd state. Do you care any more, please? If you do, I'll open the bug report. If you can open a bug report to track it and attach /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_gem_interrupts maybe we can work out from the interrupt that arrived, why it was triggered. -Chris Chris -- The more I see, the more I know. [Bug 28852] New: [KMS] radeon artifacts when switched to graphics after boot
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28852 Summary: [KMS] radeon artifacts when switched to graphics after boot Product: Drivers Version: 2.5 Kernel Version: 2.6.38-rc2 (branch airlied/drm-2.6.git/drm-fixes) Platform: All OS/Version: Linux Tree: Mainline Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P1 Component: Video(DRI - non Intel) AssignedTo: drivers_video-...@kernel-bugs.osdl.org ReportedBy: oldium@seznam.cz Regression: Yes I have running lines on the screen when the radeon driver takes control (see attached video from system boot). In 2.6.37 it worked fine (some old drm-radeon-testing branch), but in 2.6.38 drm-fixes it started to appear. I will attach dmesg output for both 2.6.37 and 2.6.38 with drm.debug=3. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are watching the assignee of the bug. -- The ultimate all-in-one performance toolkit: Intel(R) Parallel Studio XE: Pinpoint memory and threading errors before they happen. [Bug 34156] New: r600g performance regression between 780c183b and 862ebb41
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34156 Summary: r600g performance regression between 780c183b and 862ebb41 Product: Mesa Version: git Platform: x86-64 (AMD64) OS/Version: Linux (All) Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Drivers/Gallium/r600 AssignedTo: dri-devel@lists.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: dawit...@sbcglobal.net Performance suddenly improved by 50-150% across the board in late January, so I've been very happy with Mesa r600g lately! I havent looked much through the code to see if I can fix this. for the time being I'll revert this on my machine with the current, until later on. The attached patch should fix it assuming I got your pci ids correct. I'm done with the pll stuff; too may fixes break other boards. Just add a quirk table and be done with it. The attached patch builds on the previous one and fixes an additional regression.
