I realise I'm not the reporter of the bug but there's been a recent update to

Is this still an issue with latest git for you?
Kernel 3.4... that's really old. Tried with a newer kernel?

apitrace != gdb

Marek is right, for tracing a 32-bit application, you need a 32-bit build of
apitrace.

according to the interwebs:

64-bit GDB can debug either 32 or 64-bit processes.

so, i believe the lack of a proper trace might be:

1 - lack of symbols in the 32bits game binary
2 - my inability to generate a proper trace
3 - both

I think you need 32bit apitrace to be able to capture traces from 32bit apps.

yes i figured that much. i took a look at steam forum and today there was a
response from the studio that did the port, they said they are working in
it. you csn close the bug or wait for a patch to surface, your call.

Normally, that doesn't matter, since if it's a driver bug, we should get the
information we need from the driver symbols.

However, looks like things are getting smashed up pretty badly in this case.
Maybe 'thread apply all bt' or running the game in valgrind will tell us more.
