   Summary: openGL + Radeon 7000 = 100% CPU load
   Product: DRI
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: P2
 Component: DRM modules
AssignedTo: dri-devel@lists.sourceforge.net
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I have a Radeon 7000.
After a openGL application was in use i have 100% CPU load by the X server when
a non-openGL application (like XMMS) makes output on the X server.

To bring the CPU load in normal state i have to restart the PC or:
stop X
unload the radeon module (rmmod radeon)
start X

this problem is by every Xorg version (including 7.0, Xfree86 not testet yet)
and every DRI (from the kernel or CVS)

P.S. sorry for my bad english ;)

One thing that might be the cause though, is my install of X. I started from
 the
upgraded FC4 install, and just installed the xserver package and the i915
 driver
package per the wiki instructions. I poked around a bit, but those are the
 only
two binary snapshots that I saw on that link. Do I need to install anything
 else?

Have you installed the common snapshot?

Right - yes I did. So Common, Xserver package and DRI snapshot are the ones
installed.

Re: [PATCH] new radeon memory map fixes

What happens if you try (serparately):

  - With the X patch but not the DRM patch

Tried with 2.6.15.2 kernel drm and drm cvs - no change.

  - Modify RADEONInitMemoryMap() in radeon_driver.c (X driver) to change
 that line:

 mem_size = INREG(RADEON_CONFIG_MEMSIZE);

 to:

 mem_size = INREG(RADEON_CONFIG_MEMSIZE) / 2;

On the first run, it did take a little longer to lock up (got well
into the second demo), but after a reboot I tried again and it locked
up just as quickly as usual. I tested this with your patched drm,
which I think is what you intended.

Cheers,
Kevin.

sizeof(I830DRIRec) does not match passed size from device driver

2006-02-03 Thread Felix Kühling
See https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5792 for details. I'm
fairly certain that we have solved all installation and configuration
issues. What remains is some size mismatch that prevents 3D from working
on an i855 with a recent binary snapshot. Could someone familiar with
the driver take a look at this please?

Regards,
  Felix
