This message was posted to FedoraForum: http:// forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=118592 It seems (I may be wrong, of course) that DRI driver for ATI IGP320M chipset has some bugs... Is there place where I can ask for help? There are few problems, I will list them in my priority order: 1. X server often crashes when running BRLCAD (CAD freeware). Other OpenGL programs can also crash server to the point that keyboard is locked. Kernel is still running and reboot is possible when I log in from the network. 2. GoogleEarth window is fast but flickering when X server is in 16bpp mode. OK but a little bit slow when in 24bpp mode, however, GoogleEarth requires some trick (see attachment GEbeta4fix.tar.gz). 3. FlightGear runs slow (like no hardware acceleration) with X server in 24bpp mode, much faster in 16bpp mode. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee. - Take Surveys. (In reply to comment #2) > glxinfo | grep direct This always said 'direct rendering: Yes'. (Without dri I got max 260 fps, with Xorg.6.8.1-15 acceleration it was up to 480 or so). > or setting LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose for running any OpenGL application and checking > the stderr output for successful loading of the radeon_dri.so driver. Can't check this right now. I tried many XF86Config options and looked everywhere I could (not LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose, though) and saw no evidence of any trouble, other than less than optimal acceleration. (In reply to comment #3) > Do you have files /etc/drirc and/or ~/.drirc? If not, that's fine. No. > Also, what output do you get from "cat /proc/interrupts"? Can't check currently. (In reply to comment #4) > bzflag, neverputt, and tuxracer are all > definitely hardware accelerated, and perform just fine. The only benchmarks other than glxgears were molecular graphics programs (specifically 'coot' and 'pymol'). In these programs for specific tasks I got/get (fps): xorg xfree coot: 13 90 pymol: 12 28 I haven't tried turning off dri for comparison. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee. --- SF email is sponsored by - The IT Product Guide Read honest & candid reviews on hundreds of IT Products from real users.
