This same bug is also reported against Fedora;
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=531825

There it was determined that it is not necessary to completely disable AGP, but
that dropping from AGP 4X to AGP 1X is sufficient to let the system resume.

In other words, boot with: radeon.agpmode=1

There is though a serious performance penalty with doing so with certain
applications (games) that copy around large textures.

[Bug 31682] New: Radeon console output very slow with kms

Hi,

When I try to use KMS, the console output is very slow. I've seen a lot of
people complain about this, but I can't find any bug about this. It's not
really usable when KMS is enabled.

If I disable KMS (and use radeonfb), things work normally.

It takes for instance about 1 second for me to just redraw the screen, while
the same thing is _at least_ 10 times faster, probably more like 100, when KMS
is disabled.

When booting with KMS enabled I get this in dmesg:

This is not exactly a bug. KMS does not provide any acceleration for console
operations while radeonfb does.

[Bug 31712] New: GPU lockup CP stall after resume from hibernation

2011-03-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Summary: GPU lockup CP stall after resume from hibernation

Regression: No

When resuming from hibernation on my Asus P8P67 Pro Core-i5 2500K system with a
Radeon 4850, I get a GPU lockup CP stall error, which leaves the display in a
corrupt state. The kernel attempts to reset the display to no avail, landing
back in the lockup again and again. A sysrq-K to kill X.org resolves the issue.
The issue seems to be tied to plymouth. If I boot without the quiet and splash
options when resuming, it resumes just fine. Suspend also works fine. This
occurs with the stock Ubuntu Maverick 2.6.35 based kernel, the Natty 2.6.38
based kernel, and the Linus 2.6.38 kernel ( last two built from source ). The
kernel log shows:
