Re: [dspace-tech] How to upgrade the PostgreSQL server

2019-06-07 Thread Alan Orth
Hello,

I'm not sure DSpace 4.x works with PostgreSQL 11. Support for PostgreSQL 10
was only just improved for DSpace 5, 6, and 7 in 2019-03:

https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3854

[dspace-tech] Fwd: Thumbnails do not show up in browse list

2019-06-07 Thread George Kozak
Hi, Everyone:
So, I found a pattern to my problem of thumbnails not showing up in the
browse list. It turns out that if a submitter marks a bitstream as
"primary", and I manually upload a thumbnail because the bitstream is not a
PDF or image, then the thumbnail will not display in the item list BUT will
display on the item view list. Very strange. That's only if the a
thumbnail cannot be be auto generated by the filter-media and the bitstream
marked primary is not a PDF or image. Is this a bug or a feature? ☺

Subject: Thumbnails do not show up in browse list
To: DSpace Technical Support

Hi,
I am having an odd problem with some certain records in our DSpace
instance. These records have either PPTX or DOCX files, so I am manually
generating thumbnails (with Photoshop) for them and uploading the thumbnail
bitstreams. I have had no problem with this in the past, but what I am
seeing is that while the thumbnails display in the item view, they do not
display in the item list view (either browse or recent items). Only
certain records are affected, and I have checked authorizations. I am
using DSPACE 6.3 with a modified Mirage 2 theme, but I have tried it with
the JSPUI interface and different themes and see the same result.

I can't figure out what's happening, and I am wondering if anyone else has
anything seen like this before, and can offer some suggestions. Thanks!

[dspace-tech] "Related Files" section: how does it work?

2019-06-07 Thread Valerio Graziano
So, there is the "Related Files" appearing within every handles right, how
does it work, what is the rationale behind the choice to display certain
files and not others?

Has this anything to do with the files' metadata?

Thank you.

Re: [dspace-tech] How to show specific metadata in DSpace's in simple item record?

2019-06-07 Thread Paul Münch
Hello,

try to delete your web browser or/and Tomcat ($CATALINA_HOME/work) cache.

If these things don't work review your code. Maybe the metadata field
call is incorrect.

I hope this helps and kind regards,

Paul Münch
