[dspace-tech] Dspace 7.6 deposit issue

2024-05-20 Thread 'Poulter, Dale' via DSpace Technical Support
Good morning,

We are running Dspace 7.6 behind an AWS ALB and using Apache mod-proxy in front
of tomcat. We are able to upload documents, add content to the submission
form, save the form and save the form for later. However when we attempt to
deposit if fails with the error that something has gone wrong. I do not see
errors in the tomcat, dspace, apache, or pm2 logs. It does appear in the
developer tools that
https://dev-irbe.library.vanderbilt.edu/server/api/workflow/workflowitems?projection=full
 fails (status 504, type xhr). Has anyone encountered and resolved this issue?
 Thanks!

RE: [dspace-tech] Re: LDAP authentication and Dspace 7.6

2023-09-10 Thread 'Poulter, Dale' via DSpace Technical Support
Thanks to everyone for your help on this issue and the issue with the url
showing incorrectly in the BE. The issue seems to been caused by the BE server
not reading the local.cfg file but only the dspace.cfg file. I am not sure
what caused the issue, but once I recreated the local.cfg file from scratch
things started to perform as expected.

Hi Dale,

The DSpace backend's logging configs are in [dspace]/config/log4j2.xml. So,
you should be able to use that file to increase logging as needed. By default
though, the backend should log information about attempted LDAP logins, so I'm
surprised you aren't seeing anything in your dspace.log file.

You also may want to look at the troubleshooting guide to help you check to see
if there are *different* errors in the User Interface layer that are perhaps
blocking LDAP's ability to function properly. See
https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSPACE/Troubleshoot+an+error#Troubleshootanerror-DSpace7.x(orabove)

[dspace-tech] Dspace BE not reading local.cfg

2023-08-28 Thread 'Poulter, Dale' via DSpace Technical Support
Good afternoon,

Any reason for the Dspace BE (rest api) interface to not read the local.cfg
file?In the properties both at
https://dev-BEinternal.edu/server/#/server/api
  I get

  "dspaceUI": http://localhost:4000,
  "dspaceName": "DSpace at My University",
  "dspaceServer": http://localhost:8080/server,
  "dspaceVersion": "DSpace 7.6",

However, in the local.cfg I have this

# DSpace base host URL. Include port number etc.
dspace.baseUrl =
https://dev-internal.edu
dspace.ui.url = https://dev-internal.edu
dspace.server.url =
https://dev-BEinternal.edu/serveri  I get

# Name of the site
dspace.name = DEVELOPMENT  VUIR
dspace.shortname = VUIR-DEV

Michael,

Thanks for the information. It will be great when we are ready to correct the
links. The challenge is how to have these created correctly in the first
place. The DSpace FE is seeing the url for the FE as localhost so it utilizes
that for all links - even for handles. Thanks again for your help.

Hi Dale,

It looks like you have an outdated Spring configuration file in your config
directory: /apps/Discoverarchive/config/spring/api/bte.xml

That "bte.xml" file should be deleted, as the BTE import framework was removed
in DSpace 7.

[dspace-tech] Custom facet issue

2021-02-05 Thread Poulter, Dale
Good morning,

We are running DSpace 6.3. We have created a custom facet for a specific field
(thesis.degree.discipline) that has a limited number of values (<300). The
facet works great, but when we select "View More" the resulting pages are not
relevant. I did reindex discovery after making the changes to discover.xml .
Any idea why we get the large number 5500 of options showing in the browse. We
also cannot move beyond the page below. Thank you for your assistance.

RE: [dspace-tech] CDATA use for imports

2020-05-18 Thread Poulter, Dale
Mark,

Just to close the loop. Thanks for your help. I ended up just creating a list
of entities and their replacements which appears to have worked -- at least in
testing.

Mark,

Thanks for the reply. The information is being pulled from a MySQL database.
These are old ETD entries that were entered into the system by students. We
are pulling the specific fields to create the Dublin_core.xml file ingest file.

[dspace-tech] CDATA use for imports

2020-05-18 Thread Poulter, Dale
Good morning,

We are migrating several items from an older system to DSpace using the simple
item import. As is often the case with older systems, the data is not as
clean as we would like. As a result several items fail due to bad html (open
tags no closing tags, and a few diacritic issues). One way to allow the data
to migration is to wrap the text in . However, it appears
the import ignores anything in the CDATA section. Is this expected behavior?

[dspace-tech] eperson constraint?

2020-04-16 Thread Poulter, Dale
Good afternoon,

When we attempt to access the epeople list we get error below. When looking at
the logs I also notice an error about a foreign key constraint.It seems
that if I can isolate the bad user record and delete we should be ok - but I
have been unsuccessful locating the bad record(s). Any suggestions?

Dear Dale,

can you show an example page/screenshot where this is happening? Is this on an
item page, browse by subject, discovery/search, ... ?

thanks,

[dspace-tech] Dspace 6.3 no longer build

2020-01-03 Thread Poulter, Dale
Good morning all and happy new year.

We are attempting to build DSpace 6.3 (mvn package -Dmirage2.on=true
-Dmirage2.deps.included=true) but it continues to fail since
http://rubygems-proxy.torquebox.org/ is no longer available for the
dependencies. Since the turquebox.org site will not be available
(https://github.com/torquebox/rubygems-servlets/issues/20#issuecomment-567602752)
 has any one found a replacement or a work around?

Thanks.

Thanks. Sadly, the database info return success and preinit for everything
but the database was missing many of the new changes for the metadatavalues for
eperson.

Hi Dale,

To validate the database, you can simply run:

[dspace]/bin/dspace database info

You should see the basic database information, along with a table of all the
upgrades performed on the database. As long as the upgrades all say either
"PreInit" (which means this script was skipped as it looked to have been run
manually) or "Success" (which means it succeeded during your upgrade), then you
should be OK.

If you see any other messages (like a Failure) then you'll want to rerun the DB
upgrade ([dspace]/bin/dspace database migrate) and look for any reported errors
in your logs.

[dspace-tech] RE: DSpace Solr browse indexes

2016-01-20 Thread Poulter, Dale
Good morning all,

I have a perplexing issue. Working in our development environment the system
(v5) is working as expected except for the browse indexes. The reindex
(./bin/dspace index-discovery) completed without an error and files are created
in the solr/search/index directories. However, when attempting to browse
dspace shows no items available.I can see the solr admin interface and a
wget http://dev-da.library.vanderbilt.edu:8080/solr will return results. The
dspace.log does not show any errors and the solr.log is empty. The only
indication of an issue is from the solr admin interface (see below) and appears
to have occurred after the reindex.Any suggestions as to the issue? Thanks.
