[Dspace-tech] Is cleanup command time bound
Hi , Using cleanup commands If we have submissions that are removed from dspace, I don't see the assetstore shrink immediately interms of space. I have removed some submissions from dspace system yesterday and today with the cleanup , I was able to reclaim the assetstore space . However when I added some submissions today and then removed, with the use of cleanup command , I was not able to get thy e assetstore space reclaimed immediately. Would like to know whether there are any caveats to this cleanup command . As an example,Now I have added the couple of submissions and Deleted ( Expunged) them . Even after c leaning up now the asset store size remain the same. Wondering whether there is any other way to delete the asset store contents immediately. However I noticed that the asset store database ( /test/assetstore) is not shrinking its size after removed all my submissions I would like to know how to clear the /assetstore database from the unwanted records and reduce its size. Here is the system specific information 1. Initial size of asset store AssetStore : /test/assetstore size = 3M 2 .Added a 1Mb submission size of /test/assetstore went up to 6M 3. Removed the submission fro Dspace GUI Size of /test/assetstore is still 6M . I want to know how to reduce this size from 6M to 3M back Thanks you Thanks kishore - Check out the new SourceForge.net Marketplace. Re: [Dspace-tech] Mapping page elements - stylesheets in XMLUI?
Hi, just a quick tip, first of all when you have to deal with templates defined in some of the system xslt files like structural.xslt don't modify it but copy it inside of your theme xslt. This kind of override is a good practice because it simplifies platform upgrade procedures: just backup your custom themes folders and upgrade from vanilla sources, avoiding the need to hunt/track down all changes you have done. About getting properties about your bistreams/items you could try exporting an item with org.dspace.app.mets.METSExport and see which metadata it has. i hope this could help. Re: [Dspace-tech] Regarding Video Content Support in DSpace
I agree wholeheartedly that a copy of the video should be in the repository, regardless of other places to which one might refer. One of the things I wish I had time to do (and might get around to if no one else does) is to work out ways for external services (such as a streaming service) to get read-only access directly to DSpace bitstreams. It makes a lot more sense to me than building a whole new e.g. streaming subsystem for DSpace. -- Mark H. Re: [Dspace-tech] 1.5 and Manakin
Hi Tom, I was happy to find that DSpace-1.5 includes Manakin as a web-UI option. The DSpace-1.5 install includes a 'webapps' directory with multiple webapp (unzipped .war) children ready to be registered with Tomcat or whatever (I like Glassfish): $ ls /opt/dspace15/webapps jspui/ lni/ oai/ sword/ xmlui/ The 'jspui' is the traditional jsp-based DSpace UI, and the 'xmlui' is the Manakin XML/XSL UI - pick the one you like - they both work great. [Dspace-tech] Offtopic: place for general XSLT discussion?
Is there some good place to ask questions about XSLT in general? I've run into one of those problems where none of the books is specific enough, and I'm trying increasingly crazy variants of an expression to see what works. (In case this sounds interesting: in the item summary view I need to relate each of the item's bitstreams to a metadata element my aspect adds to the pageMeta element. I don't seem to understand how to use the value of element A as the comparand in an attribute-value predicate on element B, and since the object metadata is not in the main DRI document but is pulled in by the theme in the middle of processing, I don't think I can index it using a key element because the nodes I want to index don't exist at the point that the key element is processed. Grrr, my first serious foray into a new technology *always* turns into one of these.) -- Mark H.
