Re: [Dspace-tech] Issues with OpenSearch sortFields and sorting order

2014-12-03 Thread Alan Orth
Christian,

Wow, thank you! I've just managed to create a proper RSS feed for a
certain metadata field and sort it by dc.date.accessioned in descending
order.

Now, the DSpace documentation is 100% wrong in several places with regards
to the setup of OpenSearch... for example, I had to define custom search
filters in `discovery.xml' [0], and the DSpace 4.2 documentation PDF (page
733) seems to suggest that OpenSearch only has the following parameters:
format, scope, rpp, start, sort_by.

Grateful but frustrated,

Alan

I'm playing with OpenSearch in DSpace 4.2 and I'm having a couple of
issues. I see OpenSearch uses the Discovery configuration, so I'm
investigating `discovery.xml'. Here are two related issues I'm having:

1- I've added a custom sortField for dc.date.accessioned and added it
to my bean's sortFields, but I can't figure out how to use it.
OpenSearch has a `sort_by' parameter which only takes an integer; how
do I know which integer to use?

2- If I use `sort_by=2` it appears to be sorting by dc.date.issued,
but in ascending order, even though `discovery.xml' lists desc as
the default sort order everywhere in the config.

We're trying to piggy back on OpenSearch to build custom RSS feeds for
certain terms, so we can use a feed aggregator to send email alerts
when there are new items. Unfortunately it's quite pointless if we
can't customize the field to sort by or see the newest items first in
  the feed!

Our application stack is: DSpace 4.2, Tomcat 7, Oracle Java 7, Ubuntu
  14.04.

  Thank you,

  Alan

 Hi Alan,

OpenSearch is using the dspace.cfg not discovery.xml and sorting options
 are defined like that:

 webui.itemlist.sort-option.1 = dateissued:dc.date.issued:date
 webui.itemlist.sort-option.2 = dateaccessioned:dc.date.accessioned:date

The sort-option and the order can be defined with get parameters like this
 sort_by=1order=DESC

Re: [Dspace-tech] Inconsistent text_lang on metadatavalue fields

2014-12-03 Thread Stuart Yeates
I can tell you right off that some fields have linguistic content.

dc.language.iso, dc.type and dc.date should not have text_lang fields in normal
use. If you're using date formats starting with the Year of our Lord one
thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven... they may do, but if you're doing
that, you probably have bigger issues.

I'm not sure where this gets set in dspace.

Re: [Dspace-tech] Inconsistent text_lang on metadatavalue fields

2014-12-03 Thread Peter Dietz
For links sake, I found this SO post at:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/27277594/dspace-how-does-text-lang-get-set-during-item-submission

Yeah, as Mark's post mentions, there's languages all over the place. It
would be good if default.language got used in more places. We've had
librarians spending loads of time batchmetadata cleaning up their content.
I ended up just writing a SQL task that runs nightly via cron, to nuke the
languages.

Also, I've attempted to clean up MetadataExport to CSV to not include as
much junk, dc.date.submitted vs dc.date.submitted[], but I didn't tackle
cleaning up the import, so have to close that PR.
https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/pull/674

And Kostas, would like ItemImport to not apply a default language, if your
metadata doesn't specify.

Re: [Dspace-tech] Inconsistent text_lang on metadatavalue fields

2014-12-03 Thread Mark Diggory
Peter and Terry,

On Wednesday, December 3, 2014, Peter Dietz pe...@longsight.com wrote:

Also, I've attempted to clean up MetadataExport to CSV to not include as

cleaning up the import, so have to close that PR.
 https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/pull/674

That's a much needed improvement.

And Kostas, would like ItemImport to not apply a default language, if your
 metadata doesn't specify.
 https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/pull/772

I would agree, dates/ids need to not have a lang forced on them when one is
not set. Also, using the aystem default for other fields is also a
huge assumption that the value is in that actual language.

Regards,
Mark

[Dspace-tech] [DSpace-tech]: Exporting entire site problem

2014-12-03 Thread Nada Abo-Eita
Dear DSpace Community,

I tried to export entire site using the following command:

[dspace]/bin/dspace packager –d -a -t AIP -e eperson-i
sitePrefix/0 site-aip.zip

But it gives me the following Exception : *Failed to export Roles via
packager*
For me details about the error please find the attached file.

Anyone have an idea why roles cannot be exported?

*Note: *
*DSpace version 1.7.2 *

Regards,
Nada Abo-Eita
Also disseminating all child objects (recursive mode)..
This may take a while, please check your logs for ongoing status while we
process each package.
