Re: [Dspace-tech] Want to add custom filter type in dspace 4.x search filter facet

2015-02-26 Thread Pablo Buenaposada
Well, all the files you modified in the dspace installation need to be
overwritten in the dspace source, or added if you created them as new in the
dspace installation.
For example, Messages.properties is only in the source so you don't have to
do nothing.
input-forms.xml is in the source and in the installation, so you have to
overwrite your source input-forms.xml with the one of the installation.

Later you can return to compile as always... mvn package, ant update, etc...

[Dspace-tech] Viewing an uploaded item in DSpace 4.2 xmlui

2015-02-26 Thread poonam_anthony

Hi,

I'm trying to change the how an item is viewed in DSpace. By default on the
search results page when you click on the title or icon it redirects to a
new page where more details about the item are displayed. I want to skip
this page and directly open the file in view mode when the title is clicked
( assuming only one file is uploaded per item).

I had also posted this question on StackOverflow

Re: [Dspace-tech] Configuring DSpace to allow access to all the metadata and password-protecting the Full text

2015-02-26 Thread Claudia Jürgen
Hello Admire,

when you create a collection set
DEFAULT_ITEM_READ to anonymous
and
DEFAULT_BITSTREAM_READ to whatever group should have access.

During the ingest the items will derive their policies from these
settings. The splash page with the metadata will be visible to everyone,
accessing the associated bitstreams will be restricted.

Hope this helps

Claudia Jürgen

[Dspace-tech] DSPACE SECURITY ADVISORY: New DSpace 5.1, 4.3 and 3.4 releases resolve security issues in XMLUI and JSPUI

2015-02-26 Thread Tim Donohue

All,

In recent weeks, several security vulnerabilities where discovered in
the XMLUI and JSPUI of DSpace 3.x, 4.x and 5.x sites. Some of these
vulnerabilities also affect Space 1.x.x sites.

While these security vulnerabilities vary in severity (see below), WE
RECOMMEND ALL DSPACE USERS CONSIDER UPGRADING TO EITHER DSPACE 3.4, 4.3
OR 5.1 to ensure your site is secure. Please note that the DSpace 5.1
release also includes several minor bug fixes to the 5.x platform.

   * DSpace 5.1 Release Notes:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC5x/Release+Notes
   * DSpace 4.3 Release Notes:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC4x/Release+Notes
   * DSpace 3.4 Release Notes:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/DSpace+Release+3.4+Notes

Where possible, WE ALSO RECOMMEND IMMEDIATELY REMOVING ANY
allowLinking=true SETTINGS from your Tomcat Context configuration.
Previously our DSpace installation documentation erroneously listed
examples which included allowLinking=true, while the Tomcat
documentation details it as a possible security concern [1]. The XMLUI
Directory Traversal Vulnerability (see below) is also exacerbated by
having allowLinking=true enabled.

[NOTICE FOR DSPACE 1.x.x USERS:] Per our DSpace Software Support Policy
[2], all DSpace 1.x.x versions are now End-Of-Life (EOL). This
includes versions 1.8.3 and below. As such, we will not be releasing any
further 1.x.x versions (even though several of these vulnerabilities do
exist in 1.x.x versions). We recommend either manually patching your
instances or upgrading. If you are considering an upgrade from DSpace
1.x.x, note that, as of DSpace 5, your existing data (i.e. database
contents, search/browse indexes) will now be automatically upgraded from
ANY prior version of DSpace (1.x.x, 3.x or 4.x). Therefore, you may wish
to consider upgrading directly to DSpace 5.1, as the 5.x upgrade process
is simplified.

Vulnerabilities Summary

Summary of XMLUI Vulnerabilities:
-

[HIGH SEVERITY] XMLUI Directory Traversal Vulnerabilities: These
vulnerabilities allows someone to potentially access any file on your
local filesystem which is readable to the Tomcat user account. This
includes files which are unrelated to DSpace or Tomcat, but are readable
to all users on the filesystem (e.g. on Linux this includes /etc/passwd,
/etc/hosts, etc). This also includes Tomcat configuration files (which
may or may not contain passwords). These vulnerabilities have existed
since DSpace 1.5.2. The initial vulnerability was discovered by Khalil
Shreateh, with additional (related) vulnerabilities discovered by the
Committer Team.

In some configurations of Tomcat, simply removing any
allowLinking=true settings from your Tomcat's Context configuration
will limit the directory traversal vulnerability's severity to only
allow access to files within the XMLUI web application directory.

More information (and a patch) is available at
https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-2445 (Requires a DuraSpace JIRA
account to access for two weeks, and then will be publicly available)

Summary of JSPUI Vulnerabilities:
-

[MEDIUM SEVERITY] JSPUI Directory Traversal Vulnerability: This
vulnerability allows someone to potentially access any file within the
JSPUI web application directory (e.g. WEB-INF/web.xml). This
vulnerability is believed to have existed in all prior versions of
DSpace, and was discovered by Khalil Shreateh.

More information (and a patch) is available at
https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-2448 (Requires a DuraSpace JIRA
account to access for two weeks, and then will be publicly available)

[LOW SEVERITY] Cross-site scripting (XSS injection) is possible in JSPUI
Recent Submissions listings. This vulnerability could allow a
depositor/submitter to embed dangerous Javascript code into the metadata
of a new submission, thus causing that code to be run across other user
accounts. However, this vulnerability is only possible by someone with
privileges to add content to your DSpace site. This vulnerability has
existed since DSpace 1.5.x, and was discovered by Jean-Paul Zhao
(University of Toronto).

More information is available at
https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-1702 (Requires a DuraSpace JIRA
account to access for two weeks, and then will be publicly available)

[LOW SEVERITY] Cross-site scripting (XSS injection) is possible in JSPUI
Discovery search form: This vulnerability could allow someone to embed
dangerous Javascript code into links to search results. If a user was
emailed such a link and clicked it, the javascript would be run in their
local browser. This vulnerability has existed since DSpace 3.x. It was
discovered on DSpace 4.x and 5.x by Gabriela Mircea (McMaster
University) and Khalil Shreateh. It was discovered on DSpace 3.x by
Ilyas Orak (Biznet Bilisim A.S.).

Re: [Dspace-tech] main servlet for url pattern: dspaceurl.com/*

2015-02-26 Thread Tim Donohue
Hi Pablo,

Sorry for the delayed response.

Assuming you are looking to use the XMLUI, I think what you are looking
for is the XMLUI sitemap.xmap (which is an Apache Cocoon config):

https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/blob/master/dspace-xmlui/src/main/webapp/sitemap.xmap

This sitemap config file matches various URL path patterns and forwards
them along to various Java classes, etc.

Here's an example of a Regex match (which matches any path starting with
a number, and redirects it to the /handle path where it is processed
as an identifier):

https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/blob/master/dspace-xmlui/src/main/webapp/sitemap.xmap#L653

So, you'll likely want something similar, depending on your exact needs.
More info on SiteMaps is in the Cocoon documentation:
http://cocoon.apache.org/2.1/userdocs/concepts/sitemap.html

 the one that maps /*.
That mapping is already defined by dspace.request mapping, and I see that is

What's the java class that catches that petitions?

 Thanks.

It seems that you're using a semicolon as field separator. The
separator has to be a comma.

If already have a comma in the data, you should enclose the value in
double quotes to prevent it from being treated as a separator.

[Dspace-tech] Manakin, collection name

2015-02-26 Thread Anja Radoicic

Dear all,

I was hoping you could help me with something. We are trying to change
the item view page in our DSpace. We have been rearranging the page by
changing the order of dc metadata fields and it worked wonderfully. But
now we have come to a moment where we need to use the name of the
collection and sometimes even the name of the subcommunity (that the
item belongs to). Is there a way to access the appropriate collection
name from XSL page? I see this name that I need in head trail
(breadcrumbs) but that component is being made in some of the aspects. I
also see the name of the collection in the bottom part (this item
appears in the following collection). The code looks something like this:

xsl:variable name=data
select=./mets:dmdSec/mets:mdWrap/mets:xmlData/dim:dim/

a href={@OBJID}
xsl:choose
xsl:when
test=string-length($data/dim:field[@element='title'][1]) gt; 0
xsl:value-of
select=$data/dim:field[@element='title'][1]/

/xsl:when
xsl:otherwise
i18n:textxmlui.dri2xhtml.METS-1.0.no-title/i18n:text
/xsl:otherwise
/xsl:choose
/a

When I try to use that code snippet in item view page it doesn't show
the collection name. It says Untitled. Is there something I need to
change in order for this to work?

Thanks ahead,
Anja

[Dspace-tech] Reinstate a group of items that has previously been withdrawn with Batch Metadata Editing Tool

2015-02-26 Thread BARRERA BARRERA, Carlos
Hello,

We are tring to reinstate a group of items that has previously been
withdrawn with Batch Metadata Editing Tool:

[dspace]/bin/dspace metadata-import -f metadata.csv

heading row:
id,collection,action

item rows:
28801,1,reinstate
26223,1,reinstate

performing 'actions' on items, but throws the next error:

Bad metadata declaration in row 1: id;collection;action

Does anyone use this tool or know another way to make it?

We look forward to your reply.

Re: [Dspace-tech] DSpace 5 - Embargo lift date - message to administrator

2015-02-26 Thread Adan Roman

Hi Lotta

The embargo of DSpace 5 works different from 1.8.2. It don't use
metadata to store the date of the end ot the embargo. Dspace 5 store the
policy with a start date. So is the authorization system which start
using this policy when the date is reached.

Sending an email to administrator can be done creating a curation tast
that search the resource policy of items and send an email if its date
is near. Then a crontab calling this curation nightly will do the job.

Hello

A question regarding the Embargo lift date of DSPace 5 (XMLUI) – even
if we are still on 1.8.2 (XMLUI) .

When the lifter discovers an item whose lift date is in the past, it
removes (lifts) the embargo.

I read in available DSpace 5 manual that you will be able ” to send an
email to an administrator or other interested parties when an
embargoed item becomes available.”

Is there further information on how to set this alert / mailing up
somewhere?

Many thanks

Re: [Dspace-tech] Want to add custom filter type in dspace 4.x search filter facet

2015-02-26 Thread Pablo Buenaposada
in jspui version english Message.Properties isn't as you expect in the
installed directory.
You have to modify it in the source directory and return to compile, the
file is located here sourceFolder/dspace-api/src/main/resources/

Re: [Dspace-tech] DSpace 5 - Embargo lift date - message to administrator

published example of this curation task?

I'm not Adan, but I have written a task that counts items with
resource policies that have start and/or end dates in the future. So
this could be modified to include a check how close to the current
date these will come into effect. It's here:

https://github.com/lconz-irr/Curation-Tasks/blob/6dbaca66be7b0d55bc5e0b551172ac5dc6006ab1/src/main/java/nz/ac/lconz/irr/curate/task/thesisembargo/FindAutolift.java

Note that it expects three configuration settings via the curation
task configuration mechanism (ie file in the config/module directory
with name taskname.cfg where taskname matches the name of this task
in curate.cfg):

recipients - comma-separated list of recipients for the
e-mail. If this is empty, the task can still be
run from the command line or admin interface, it just won't e-mail.
email.send-if-empty
  - whether to send an e-mail even when there are 0 such items.
  Default false.
template - name of
the e-mail template. Default "autolift_items_email".

The e-mail template can simply look like this:

# Parameters: {0} curation task output
Subject: Items with future policies

The curation task reports the following result:

{0}

DSpace

I hope this helps.

  cheers,
Andrea

Re: [Dspace-tech] Manakin, collection name

2015-02-26 Thread Andrea Schweer

Hi,

This helps me save the trail variable. Now I have to somehow acces
the fourth or fifth element of the trail. Is there a way to do
  that?

Also, this is just a workaround to access the collection name. Is
there another way that you would suggest to get to a collection
name or community name from xsl file?

There is, it's just one more step. Look at this item here, on the
demo server: http://demo.dspace.org/xmlui/handle/10673/93
Add ?XML to look at the XML, like you did for the trail:
http://demo.dspace.org/xmlui/handle/10673/93?XML
Then look at this section here:

referenceSet
  id="aspect.artifactbrowser.ItemViewer.referenceSet.collection-viewer"
  type="summaryView" n="collection-viewer"
      reference repositoryID="10673" type="DSpace Item"
  url=""
          referenceSet type="itemPageSummaryList"
  rend="hierarchy"
              reference repositoryID="10673" type="DSpace
  Collection" url=""/
          /referenceSet
      /reference
  /referenceSet

The hierarchy tells you which collection this item is in. It gives
you the link to the collection's mets.xml. So have a look at that
one http://demo.dspace.org/xmlui//metadata/handle/10673/22/mets.xml
and you will see the title here:
dim:field mdschema="dc" element="title"The scramble for and
Partition of Africa/dim:field

Now, to put this all together -- in the same spot where you are
assigning the trail to a variable, instead do this:
obtain the URL of the collection's mets.xml file from the snippet
above
load that mets file via the XSL document function
(http://www.w3schools.com/xsl/func_document.asp)
from the loaded document, select the title metadata (and/or whatever
else you want, eg identifier for the link).

then assign _that_ to a variable and pass it into item-view.xsl

I hope this makes sense, I don't have time to go into more detail
right now, sorry.

cheers,
Andrea
