Re: [Dspace-tech] Any way to reorder the lists of communities/collections?

2009-06-15 Thread Girija S.
Hello!

In our Dspace (http://dspace.rri.res.in) the comunity-list sorting is done
by giving a number before each community e.g.

1. Archives
2. C.V. Raman and his work
3. Science at the Raman Institute: 1948-1970
4. Astronomy and Astrophysics
5. Light and Matter Physics
6. Soft Condensed Matter
7. Theoretical Physics

I would be interested to know of any other way to do this.

Best wishes,
Girija

Re: [Dspace-tech] Desired hierarchical display of communities and collection list

2007-11-21 Thread Girija S
Dear all,

I have also been wondering if this could be done in DSpace. While
checking out some other repositories, I noticed that it has been done in
the Zurich Open Repository and Archive
http://www.zora.unizh.ch/zora/community-list which is maintained by Open
Repository (a service from Biomed Central). I understand they use Dspace
too. I wonder how this was done. Would Manakin help in this? Will they
please share this with the Dspace community?

Re: [Dspace-tech] Pdf problems

2007-09-20 Thread Girija S
Dear Rune Pettersen,

We have that problem with some pdf files and in some computers. Sometimes
the file opens in IE explorer but not in firefox or mozilla in the same
computer! One way to solve this is to set the browser preferences to open
the file with the acrobat reader and not the plugin. Then the files open
without any problem.

But this has to be done individually by the user at his end. I don't know
if this is the right solution.

Best wishes,
Girija Srinivasan

[Dspace-tech] Error when deleting a community and a collection

2007-07-12 Thread Girija S
Dear all,

We are using Dspace 1.3.2. and have a repository at
http://dspace.rri.res.in/

We would like to delete a community and the collections under it. All the
collections showed zero items. I was able to delete all but one of them.
The one that is left gives an error message when I try to delete it.
Then I remembered that this one had an item entered by mistake some time
ago which was withdrawn later(hence zero items). So I expunged the
withdrawn item hoping this would solve the problem. But I am still not
able to delete this collection or the community which hosts it.

Can anyone tell me how to delete this remaining collection and its
community? I checked the archives but could not find any clear solution.
Should we do some cleanup? Can anyone give me some detailed instructions
on this process?

Thanks a lot.

Girija

Re: [Dspace-tech] error message while opening pdf documents

2007-06-05 Thread Girija S
Dear Jayan,

I think we had a similar error -but strangely only for some pdf
files and only in my computer! I solved the problem by configuring
firefox to open pdf files with Adobe Acrobat reader instead of with the
Adobe plugin.

Best wishes,
Girija
