Dear William, In our installation, with Oracle 10g, and applying the path to its proper functioning, we have found problems with files of 1 gig or more. Re: [Dspace-tech] Maximum File Size
I had to change several lines related to the support of the Long type of Oracle (my DSpace version is 1.4.1), because it didn't work well ( I discussed this topic several weeks ago in the mailing list). When I try to enter a file of more than 1 gig I get an Internal Error, but in our context we don't have to include files with this size. Cheers. There are lots of potential issues when dealing with large files - the amount of data you can handle in an upload / ingest, file system of the asset store, etc. AFAIK, the only database related issue with large files is the storing of the file size metadata - in that regards, the changes to allow long integers to store file size originally broke *all* file uploads with Oracle (not just large files). Even a minimal workaround would likely have no more issues than to misreport large file sizes, although the latest patches do not have that limitation. G This email has been scanned by Postini. Re: [Dspace-tech] Dspace and Oracle Application Server 10g
Nowadays, I have some problems with the deployment in OAS, as I can't access the web application deployed. I have tried to deploy only one WAR file, with the idea given by Stuart Lewis, and with the two WAR files, within the same OC4J. I haven't any problem with the several phases of deployment, but when I try to access to the path in the browser, I get an error. About the questions, I have one Oracle Database configured in dspace.cfg, and I don't believe that there could be any problem with several web-apps deployed in OAS using the same DB. So, I think that my problem is due to another issue. When I manage to solve this issue I will communicate it to you. Best. On 2/17/07, Graham Triggs [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: From: Mark Diggory Is there something unique about Oracle Application Server that is stopping two separately deployed web-apps from both using the same db? I suspect you would be as surprised as I would if you were told that was the case. It would be a massive limitation. I'm a little naive about using Oracle Application Server / Oracle DB. What stops you from deploying each war separately? What issues would arise that are a concern if you did? The question is whether both WARs can reside with the same OC4J instance, or whether they have to be in separate ones. I've only got a vague understanding of what an OC4J instance is, but to put in context, it sounds like it has a roughly similar scope to a CATALINA_BASE instance (then imagine Tomcat running with multiple simultaneous instances of those). I can see administration benefits to having both web apps in a single instance (and some restrictions when running in spearate instances). Judging by question 25 of the FAQ, this should be possible: http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/oc4j/1012/collateral/OC4J-FAQ-101202.pdf 25 Where can I put shared class libraries so they are accessible to all my deployed applications? [Dspace-tech] Dspace and Oracle Application Server 10g
Hi, Nowadays, I am trying to run DSpace 1.4.1 on Oracle Application Server 10g, and I have an initial doubt in this matter. When we create the DSpace binaries, with ant, we obtain two WAR files, dspace.war and dspace-oai.war, which are necessary to deploy the application in Tomcat. But, when I try to deploy the application on Oracle Application Server, I can only select a WAR file. So, could I join both WAR files in only one without problems?, has anybody had this problem? Many thanks. - Take Surveys. Earn Cash. Re: [Dspace-tech] Dspace and Oracle Application Server 10g
Hi Mark, My knowledge on OAS 10g is limited, but I think that if you deploy two differents WAR files you are obtaining two differents applications within OAS, as for each deployment you are limited to deploy only one WAR file. So, although I deploy two differents applicatios for DSpace, dpsace and dspace-oai, in the same OC4J, I think this don't work. Best. On 2/16/07, Mark Diggory [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: While this wholy possible now (and actually a nice solution to the issue) I caution that the future path of DSpace Development could completely separate these web-applications dependencies as well.
