Niinpä innostuin hankkimaan tarvikkeet ja pienen sähellyksen jälkeen systeemi alkoikin toimia ihan mukavasti. Kotelon sisään sopiva Seeduino-kontrolleri hoitaa raudan ohjaukset ja keskustelee USB-liitännän kautta tietokoneelle. Käyttöliittymäksi on tehty yksinkertainen ohjelma (XDR-GTK) joka pystyy käyttämään hyödyksi kaikki raudan tarjoamat mahdollisuudet. Esimerkiksi kaistanleveyden voi asettaa 29 asentoon, FM:llä välillä 9-309 kHz ja AM:llä 1.1-38.6 kHz. Mielenkiintoisin uusi ominaisuus on OIRT-alueen kuuntelu. Rx menee 55 MHz:iin asti, mutta en ole testaillut herkkyyttä kuin Nummelan 70.018 MHz majakan OH2FOUR avulla. Sony oli herkempi kuin oma 70 MHz vastaanotinsysteemini FM:llä. Lisäbonuksena on vielä SW-alueiden vastaanotto, eli AM-alue kattaa aukottomasti 100-3kHz. Sielläkin XDR tuntui toimivan yhtä hyvin kuin Icomin 706. Käyttöliittymä on aika askeettinen, mutta silti se kuormittaa konetta yllättävän paljon. Vanha läppärini hehkuu 50% CPU-kuorman alla. Myös monenlaista kivaa lisäominaisuutta tuohon vielä kaipaisin, kuten muistit, skannaus ja lokinpito. Vaan kyllä tämä systeemi tällaisenaankin tuo melkoista lisäarvoa vanhalle huippuvastaanottimelle. Heard a station this morning from 1102 past 1125 UTC on 4985.5. Definite man announcer, possibly preaching, with music on occasion. Faded out as the late Latin Americans do at this time here. I checked my recordings and the man announcer does sound similar to the one on R. Voz Christiana that was heard on 4985 last year. I haven't seen any loggings of it lately. Is R. Voz Christiana on 4985.5 now?? Then at 1428 I find that the blob modulation matches CNR1 jammers on 9605 and 9530 vs VOA, and, out-of-synch, also 9450 CNR1 jammer vs Sound of Hope. Aoki shows nothing to explain the blob, no non-jam CNR1 services listed in the range. Remember that the CNR5 9410 transmitter used to go haywire but remained around its nominal frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** CHINA [non]. 9570, Sat Nov 9 at 1210, Cantonese hour of CRI, VG via CUBA has some really beautiful music, soprano with full orchestra, an opera?
