[HCDX] Glenn Hauser logs October 31-November 1, 2017

2017-10-31 Thread Glenn Hauser via Hard-Core-DX
** ANGUILLA. 6090, Oct 31 at 2343, whee! DGS is back from The Valley, with VG
S9+30 signal and modulation. Had been off for weeks since hurricane, except for
a very brief reactivation a few days later when it seemed to be OK then. At
0154 Nov 1 check, // 5935 WWCR and synchronized, taking the same satellite feed
from LA. Day frequency 11775 may be back too. It was reported that the antenna
needed repairing, while the MW 1610 tower was completely down, and still
unheard there (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 9666.15, Oct 31 at 2346, R. Voz Missionária is back after missing
last night, S9+5 and wayer off-frequency. I can also hear it wavering while
measuring, Portuguese religion (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6950-USB, Oct 31 at 2336, pirate music with heavy pulsing
beat; S9+15. YL inserts comment about Facebook; 2340 she says something about
weapons restrixions, as I find the music sounds better when tuned to
6950.12-USB; 2345 she says, ``Happy -u-k-n Hallowe`en, from Clever Name
Radio``. Many more logs here:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,38415.0.html
Seems it started this frequency at 2335 and was off by 0008 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6935-USB, Oct 31 at 2337, pirate music at S9+25. Finally at
2354, ``Wolverine Radio`` ID. Many2 more logs here, and SSTV images on a HW
theme:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,38406.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 4065-USB, Nov 1 at 0118, pirate music; axually sounds better
at 4064.989, DJ sounds like Dick Weed, conversing with someone, so must be
Radio Free What-Ever; 0130 more talk, mentioning having listened to Wolverine,
but conditions bad on 6.9 MHz band so moved down here; 0148 still going. I find
this in normal bandscanning, when there is no activity on 6.9 band, and would
alert others to this seldom-active pirate frequency, but HFUs were already
reporting it from all over North America:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,38418.0.html
None of them mention QRM from beacon NZ or ZN. See my separate unID log (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU [and non]. 5980, Oct 31 at 2332, R. Chaski carrier is again quite
audible amid the QRDRM from ROMANIA, until autocutoff at 2333:58*, which is a
hefty 7.5 seconds later than last night until 2333:50.5*. RRI has run DRM now
for three nights in a row on this frequency it shows as non-DRM, so hardly
seems accidental; plus, switches to AM before for the Spanish hour which
follows (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ROMANIA. 6130, Nov 1 at 0154, RRI signing-off English to North America, only
S9-S7, but to be followed by another hour in French; not DRM, but see PERU
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** THAILAND. 13745, Nov 1 at 0002, HSK9 presumed English to N America, but VP
S5-S6, and this time 13740 Cuba is no problem, hardly any better at S4-S7
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 2000-USB, Oct 31 at 0612 check, no sign of New York Radio VOLMET,
which has been missing from its four shortwave channels, and which a few years
ago strangely appeared on this temporary bandedge frequency, as Paul S in CT
reminds us. Also nothing at some further chex early UT November 1 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1901 monitoring: confirmed Tuesday October
31 at 2030 on WRMI, much stronger on 11580 than // 9455.

However, one hour later at 2130 when on 9455 only, I find the WRMI signal even
weaker but detectable and mixing with fluttery Chinese music, maybe Firedrake.
Well, of course! HFCC B17 shows IBB in Chinese via SAIPAN at 21-22, so it Must
Be Jammed. Furthermuchmore, the preceding 5 hours are more of the same: 16-17
and 17-21 also Saipan, but in three different segments since there is a
10-degree antenna beam change for the middle one from 300 to 310 degrees, why?

What other collisions does WRMI now face on 9455? 02-03 IBB in Bod/Tibetan via
Kuwait, and jamming; 06-09 Riyadh in Arabic, 500 kW, 295 degrees; and
Bangladesh Nepali service which was on 9455 years before WRMI came along, but
at 1315-1345 only, despite having registered the full hour. Maybe it`s time for
WRMI-5 to revert to the 6.8 MHz band where it started, especially since it`s
wintrish again and less fadeoutty overnight --- but down there it kept being
bumped off by USG reclaiming frequencies for MARS or something. No such plan is
in initial HFCC registrations.

WOR 1901 replayed at 2130 because I was running a bit late today.

WORLD OF RADIO 1902 contents: Alaska, Algeria non, Argentina, Australia,
Bolivia, Bougainville, Brazil, Chile, China, Cuba non, Germany and non, India,
Indonesia, Iran and non, International Vacuum & Internet, Japan and non, Korea
South, Kurdistan non, North America, Papua New Guinea, Perú, Philippines,
Romania, Sikkim, Solomon Islands, Somaliland

Re: [DX] Pieni NDB-kokeilu.

2017-10-31 Thread Juha Solasaari
Mielenkiinnosta kokeilin noita MNi:n kuulemia. Pikakuuntelussa 2115-2130
UTC tunnistettavasti tulivat: 324 AS, 333 G, 373 KEM ja hieman myöhemmin
388 KRU. Ensin 388 kHz:llä kuului ruotsalainen COR. Melko heikkoja olivat
kaikki. MW:llä 1080 AR ja 1290 TU.
RX vanha työjuhta HF-225 ja puutarhan puolella noin 35 m lanka-antenni..
Ainakin minulla oleva Tecsun PL-310 on melkein kuuro pitkäaaltoalueella eli
vaatii hirmusignaalin ennenkuin siellä kuuluu mitään.

Tecsuniin yms. voisi kokeilla kytkeä MW/LW-lanka-antennia induktiivisesti
siten, että ferriittitangon pätkälle kiertää kelan, jonka päihin yhdistää
antennin ja maajohdon. Tämä ferriittiasetelma viedään Tecsunin päälle tms.
niin että signaali kytkeytyy radion sisäiseen ferriittiantenniin. Kelan
kierrosmäärässä voi vapaasti tehdä kokeiluja.
Tai sitten eristetystä johtimesta kierretään kytkentäkela suoraan radion
ympärille jne. Muovikuorihan niissä pikkuradioissa on yleensä.

TURKEY. 15350.050, Oct 30 at 1347, Turkish conversation in VOT service now
scheduled all the way from 07 to 14, 500 kW, 310 degrees to WEu and USward
beyond. A good one for music when they play it after fade-in over here.
And better than the English from 1330 on 12035.

11815, Oct 30 at 1427, NHK in Japanese direct has a fast SAH from
something. First guess is Brasil, where RBC has been sticking pretty close
to accurate frequency, unlike all the others, but not a good daypart to
hear much of anything from ZY. Then HFCC has the answer: 11815 is the
successor frequency to 15350, VOT in Turkish at 1400-1700, but only 250
kW, still 310 degrees, and an almost-always off-frequency station.

Yes, as it was mentioned in WRTH Facebook page in July, VOI started in
Dutch between 1500-1600 UT already as of July 1st.
But as you heard it at 1300, let's check if it was an error or a schedule
change. 73, Mauno

Thank you so much Wolfie! Very much appreciate your feedback.

Will have to check tomorrow if this is a real change to their language
schedule, or just a one day anomaly.

Appreciate any observations you may find tomorrow 1300-1400 UT.
Wonder what happened to the English segment (ex: 13-14 UT)?

Thanks again. As always, is great to have your assistance!

Greetings from California!

Could I please again ask for your kind help? Today (Oct 30) heard the
*Voice of Indonesia* (9524.94 kHz.) with an anomaly.
Instead of English 1300-1400 UT, heard a language I at first thought was
German, but due to the accent, am now not sure.

Or could it be Dutch?

Pre-1300 was normal Japanese and post-1400 was the usual Indonesian.
Can you tell from the attached audio clip what the language is?

Thank you very much for your comments!

[HCDX] Tip: Kuwait 15110khz DRM

2017-10-31 Thread Paul B. Walker, Jr.
Apparently, Kuwait has been spotted lighting up another DRM Broadcast. Hat
tip for this goes to Mauno Ritola, the WRTH Facebook page and another user
there.

I have 15110khz here in Pennsylvania, and if this were analog it'd be a
pretty good signal but DRM is not holding lock and only revealing bleeps
and blurbs of audio now and then.
